ABS-CBN Lifestyle Presents: Chef-Host Claude Tayag On The He(Art) Of Cooking

Claude Tayag’s passion for design led him to become a full-time artist, even after graduating with a double degree in Architecture and Economics from UP Diliman.  But he’s long had a natural inclination to food. Coming from a family of 12, the born-and-raised Kapampangan often helped his mother and siblings in the kitchen, and would serve dishes for friends during his college days—leading him to earn the moniker “cooking artist”.

His food journey didn’t stop there. When he and his wife Mary Ann married in 1988, they opened the first floor of their Pampanga home to guests and prepared set menu meals for them as if they were in a restaurant. This reservation-only type of arrangement is what is now known as Bale Dutung. He was also invited to cook for different restaurants and hotels, and has served the likes of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and American TV personality Anthony Bourdain—thus solidifying his status as a chef.

Now Claude finds himself treading a culinary journey around the Philippines to understand what makes Filipino dishes from different regions as iconic, unique, and outstanding as they are.

Catch him and the eats he’ll feature on his new show, Chasing Flavors, airing on Saturdays at 9PM, Sundays at 12:30 PM, Mondays at 2 AM, Tuesdays at 7 PM, and Wednesdays at 11 AM on Lifestyle TV. Follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
