Let us get straight to the point: body-positive is still the best accessory this summer! However, these stars know that staying fit for the season of the sun is not just for the “gram,” but it’s to keep a healthy and active lifestyle. Diet is also a huge part of their process. So eat those veggies, and read on!

Enrique Gil is a certified beach bum. So this summer, he tells StarStudio.ph, that he’d like to have fun at the beach while working out at the same time.

“I like to swim a lot,” the Alone/Together star says. “I think that’s the best because you don’t realize you’re having fun. When you’re swimming, and out in the beach, and you’re having fun with all your friends. I think sustain the beach man, go outdoors. Kaya masarap kumain after swimming kasi you really don’t notice it but you’re really working out so much.”

While taping for the TV series Bagani (which ended its run in 2018), Liza Soberano injured her finger. It was hit by a sword—not a real one—during a fight scene, so the actress had to stop working out.

“I haven’t been working out for three months, but before I would work out seven times a week,” says the other half of the on-and-off-screen love team known as LizQuen. She may have to go back to the gym soon, as she is slated to star in the much-anticipated revival of the superhero film, Darna.

Xian Lim’s advice to be fit for the summer is this: “Keep on running, be active, and do sports.” Also, he says “eating healthy” is very important.

The actor/musician/artist is a sportsman himself. A former player of the University of the East Red Warriors, he’s now with the Mandaluyong El Tigre in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, debuting in 2018.

Rufa Mae Quinto believes in working out to be fit. But she makes it clear that proper diet, specifically eating lots of vegetables, is still the way to go.

“Ang pagda-diet naman hanggang two weeks lang dapat,” she explains. “After doon, bumitaw ka na muna kasi kung hindi mababaliw ka, o kaya hindi ka na magda-diet forever. Pero kailangan kumain kasi kapag hindi ka kumain mabobobo ka ’tsaka hindi ka makakatulog. Ang daming mangyayari. Mag-iinit ang ulo mo. So ang diet ko talaga, more veggies. Eat clean, less sugar, less juice, less salt, less fried. Gulay ’tapos brown rice.”

Piolo Pascual doesn’t need summer to stay fit. The actor/film producer/businessman has been taking care of his body for most of his life. 

“I never have off-season when it comes to staying fit,” he says.  “Every day, I try as much as possible to work out. And I diversify, so that you’d be able to touch different muscles, and so that you won’t get bored. So I always make it a point to change my program every so often. And change my sport as well.”

Anyone who follows showbiz would know that Piolo is a triathlete, and organizes sporting events himself.

Vina Morales wants her abs back, she tells us. And based on her social media posts—check out her visits to the gym—we say it won’t be long before that famous six-pack will make an appearance again.

“I’m preparing for the summer, actually,” the actress and singer says. “Lagi na akong magwo-work-out ulit. Just go to the gym, eat healthy. I think that’s the preparation to have a fit body for summer.”

Jessy Mendiola admits that her body still shows a little of what’s left from the binge eating during Christmas and New Year. “Actually, wala nga ako sa shape ngayon,” she says, laughing.

While she’s trying to get back in shape, she’s also not giving herself too much pressure to do so.  “In fairness naman, I started losing weight last year, February, and I think naman, I would like to think na na-maintain ko. Just eat healthy. Find what works for you, like anong workout ang bagay sa katawan mo. Kasi ako, ma-pata ako, e, may thighs ako, so iniiwasan ko ’yung too much sa weights. Intense ako mag-work-out pero not heavy on the weights, para lang din toned siya, pero at the same time hindi masyado bulky.”
