In showbiz, people almost always end up having relationships with people who are also from the industry.
That’s not surprising since they are oftentimes exposed to people in their own circle. But there are people in show business whose paths crossed with people outside the industry, and they are tangibly happy, too.

Andi Eigenmann and Philmar Alipayo
This couple made the headlines recently when Andi announced on February 1, through her Instagram Stories, @andieigengirl, that she is pregnant with Philmar’s baby—Andi’s second child.
Philmar is a champion surfer from Siargao, who won the first Philippine Surfing Championship Tour-sanctioned competition, the 19th Siargao National Surfing Cup.
Philmar also has a child, a son, from a previous relationship. Andi’s daughter, Ellie (whose father is Jake Ejercito) is now seven years old.

Iza Calzado and Ben Wintle
Iza and Ben met in 2011 during an event, and at a time when Iza was still heartbroken. Ben is one of the co-founders of the lifestyle application Booky.
In October 2017, Iza and her Filipino-British beau got engaged after dating for almost six years. They got married in a resort in Palawan province, in December 2018, with only their family members and closest friends in attendance.

Lea Salonga and Robert Chien
Lea, an international actress-singer, and Robert, an American entrepreneur of Japanese and Chinese descent, met through Robert’s cousin, who performed with Lea in the musical, Flower Drum Song.
They got married in 2004 in a classy, romantic wedding, where Lea sang the Louie Ocampo-Freddie Santos composition, “Two Words,” before she recited her vows.
They have a daughter named Nicole, who made her theater debut in Matilda the Musical in 2017.

Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Jeff Ortega
Although these two live in worlds where their every move is put under the microscope, they have managed to keep their relationship fairly low-key.
In an interview on the morning show Magandang Buhay, Jasmine and Jeff revealed that they had known each other for quite some time before becoming a couple. Jeff said that Georgina Wilson and Isabelle Daza—who are close friends of Jasmine’s sister, Anne Curtis—are his distant cousins.
Jeff is an entrepreneur, whose businesses are mostly based in La Union province. He is also from a political family. His brother Francisco Emmanuel Ortega III, for one, is the governor of La Union. Jasmine and Jeff have been together for three years.

James Yap and Michela Cazzola
James and Michela were introduced at one of the events organized by the company where Michela, an Italian expat, works. Smitten by her beauty and wit, James then asked for her number, and soon asked her out. That was in 2011.
They became a couple in 2012. They now have two children. Their first child together, a boy they’ve named Michael James, was born in August 2016. Their daughter, Francesca Michelle, was born in July 2018.

Derek Ramsay and Joanne Villablanca
Sometime in early 2015, Derek became comfortable posting photos of him and his then-new girlfriend Joanne Villablanca on his Instagram account. The model/online entrepreneur rarely speaks with the press, too.
In 2017, Derek admitted that they are “practically” living together. Derek and Joanne are both loving parents to their children from previous relationships—a son for Derek and a daughter for Joanne.

Yam Concepcion and Miguel Cu-Unjieng
Yam told StarStudio.ph in an exclusive interview that she and Miguel met in 2010.
Even though sparks flew immediately, they only became a couple in 2014 because Miguel had to leave for the United States to take his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
They now have a healthy and happy long distance relationship. They celebrated their fifth anniversary in Japan last January 2019.

Nikki Valdez and Luis Garcia
After her two-year marriage failed, Nikki Garcia has found happiness again in media executive Luis Garcia. They got engaged in December 2017, and at the time, they have already been dating for three years. They got married in a private ceremony in Hong Kong in August 2018.

Beauty Gonzalez and Norman Crisologo
Beauty Gonzalez, 27, and Norman Crisologo, 42, an art curator, met in 2014, through a common friend, actress Ellen Adarna.
The two got engaged in March 2017, then married around two months later. Beauty gave birth to their daughter Olivia in February 2016.

Vhong Navarro and Tanya Garcia Bautista
Despite the controversies that they had to face in the past years, Vhong and Tanya have kept their relationship stable and private. The two have been together for around a decade now, and there have even been rumors about them getting married soon.
However, Vhong has never addressed those rumors. Vhong and Tanya met during the filming My Only You (2008), where Vhong was the lead actor and Tanya was one of the writers. Tanya is also a writer of the current hit TV series, Halik.

KC Concepcion and Pierre Emmanuel-Plassart
Sometime in August 2018, KC confirmed her relationship with writer-director- photographer Pierre through an Instagram post, which showed him giving her a kiss on her cheek.
In her succeeding posts, it was revealed that KC and Pierre met in 2011 during a big event in the United States. At the time, KC was representing the Philippines as the ambassador of the United Nations World Food Programme. They are currently in a happy long-distance relationship.
