Many were taken by surprise when on May 5, a cease and desist order was filed against media giant ABS-CBN. The House of Representatives then granted a provisional franchise, affirming that operations will eventually continue in June until October 31.

Kapamilya stars were clearly surprised when it was shut down, and took to social media to air their sentiments and show their full support at the time.

Anne Curtis was obviously in shock and expressed what she felt by saying, “I’m in disbelief that this is actually happening. It is so heartbreaking. Nakakalungkot.”

In spite of what occurred, Andrea Brillantes remained hopeful that things would turn out for the best. The star said, “Sa kabila ng pagtigil ng aming pagpapahayag sa telebisyon at radyo, patuloy kaming kumakapit sa Diyos at sa isa’t-isa bilang isang Pamilya para maisulong ang walang sawang paglilingkod sa bawat Pilipino, saan man sa mundo.”

Notwithstanding all the hoopla surrounding the ABS-CBN shutdown, Denise Laurel remained positive: “From being a child actor, to having a little one of my own, thanks for helping me through the years bring my sole desire of making people happy come to life.”

Gerald Anderson was clearly distraught as well, and took to Instagram stating, “Sad day for so many people… ang bigat.”

Jolina Magdangal was saddened with the shutdown. She stressed: “Nasa gitna tayo ng pandemic na ito at nag aalala tayo sa kalusugan ng pamilya natin, pati narin ang edukasyon ng bata, biglang nagdagdagan pa ng pagsara ng aking minamahal na ABS-CBN.” She also urged everyone to keep praying for the network.

“Ang sakit-sakit na nangyayari ito sa aking pangalawang tahanan,” Maja expressed. However, the actress stated that she believes this just a challenging time for them and that they will get through this.
