On November 10, ABS-CBN started filming for the highly-anticipated Christmas Station ID 2019 with the theme Family is Forever.

It has been ten years since the memorable Bro, Ikaw Ang Star Ng Pasko in 2009 was released, months after the Ondoy tragedy which affected almost five million Filipinos. 

Since 2002, ABS-CBN has been giving all the Kapamilyas in the world a production that reminded them of the true meaning of the birth of Jesus. This coming Christmas, let us look back on those last ten years that gave us joy through these ABS-CBN Christmas Station IDs.

1. Bro, Ikaw Ang Star Ng Pasko (2009)

The catchy tune of Bro, Ikaw Ang Star Ng Pasko in 2009 is one of the most memorable Christmas Station IDs—not only because of its amazing roster of celebrities who performed throughout the video, but also because of the deeper meaning it sends to all the Filipinos who suffered from Typhoon Ondoy. 

After being largely damaged by the fourth worst natural disaster in the Philippines, the Filipinos remained strong in faith and continued to find joy in every situation as relayed through the message of the video. Among the notable stars who participated are Piolo Pascual, Sharon Cuneta, KC Concepcion, Sarah Geronimo, and Zaijian Jaranilla, who at that time was popular for calling Jesus his Bro in the hit teleserye May Bukas Pa.

2. Ngayong Pasko Magniningning Ang Pilipino (2010)

Many Filipinos go abroad to help their families back home. Some travel across the globe to represent the country while some stay and bring pride in their own little ways. The theme of the Christmas Station ID 2010 Ngayong Pasko Magniningning ang Pilipino showcased the selfless acts of OFWs and talents who made it worldwide.

Many of the hottest stars of 2010 were present in the video. The theme song was wonderfully sung by Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano, and the Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga. They were joined by the University of Santo Tomas Singers who won the Luciano Pavarotti Trophy in Wales, United Kingdom in 2010.

3. Da Best Ang Pasko Ng Pilipino (2011)

The importance of time was highlighted in this lively and inspiring Christmas Station ID Da Best Ang Pasko Ng Pilipino of 2011. No matter where you are, what you do, and who you are with, Filipinos were reminded to give time to the people who are most important. Communities like barangays, churches, and neighborhoods were also given importance in celebrating Christmas. 

Different celebrities who were part of the year’s shows participated in the video including ABS-CBN Entertainment, News and Current Affairs ad Regional Network Group TV personalities, ANC and DZMM anchors; and Tambayan 101.9 DJs and Kapamilyas from the Filipino community worldwide. The song was sung by the Youtube sensation Maria Aragon together with the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus.

4. Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento ng Pasko (2012)

For the Christmas Station ID in 2012, the finest singers in the Philippines gathered together to perform the very meaningful song Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento Ng Pasko. The video was inspired by real-life situations to give hope to all the Filipinos despite hardships. It was symbolized by different kinds of lanterns.

The song also conveyed the selflessness of Filipinos during Christmas. Some of the singers who performed were Zsa Zsa Padilla, Vina Morales, Sarah Geronimo, Erik Santos, Jed Madela, Yeng Constantino, KZ Tandingan, Bugoy Drilon, Bamboo, and Angeline Quinto. 

5. Magkakasama Tayo Sa Kwento Ng Pasko (2013)

This year, the Christmas Station ID celebrated the 60th anniversary of the television network. Magkakasama Tayo sa Kwento ng Pasko gave emphasis to ABS-CBN’s passion. It featured a diverse group of people such as the survivors of Women’s Crisis Center, kids of Child Haus, and Cebuanos. 

The song was performed by The Voice PH coaches Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Lea Salonga alongside their contestants Mitoy Yonting, Klarisse de Guzman, Janice Javier, and Myk Perez.

6. Thank You, Ang Babait Ninyo (2014)

Everyone is familiar with the popular Christmas carol Thank You, Ang Babait Ninyo. In 2014, this song given a different twist and flavor. The Station ID focused on giving thanks to ordinary people that brought light into our lives today. It includes housemaids, drivers, foundations, and even strangers.

Since the original song was meant for children caroling every Christmas, The Voice Kids Season 1 top four finalists Lyca Gairanod, Darren Espanto, Juan Karlos Labajo, and Darlene Vibares brought life to the beautiful rendition.

7. Thank You For The Love (2015)

Giving thanks never stopped in the 2015 Christmas Station ID 2015 Thank You For The Love. Inspiring stories brought together the Kapamilya celebrities to express their gratitude to teachers, farmers, soldiers, drivers, fishermen, production staff, and crew. 

The song was performed by the three biggest love teams KathNiel, LizQuen, and JaDine who promote love and sharing in the beginning of the video.

8. Isang Pamilya Tayo Ngayong Pasko (2016)

Resilience is one of the best traits of a Filipino. Through thick and thin, hard work and patience is always part of achieving our dreams. In 2016, the Christmas Station ID Isang Pamilya Tayo Ngayong Pasko featured individuals and communities who were determined to succeed despite the difficulties they faced along the way. One of them is Hidilyn Diaz who won the Silver Medal during the Olympics 2016 in Rio, Brazil.

The beautiful composition was sung by The Voice Coaches Lea Salonga, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo and Sharon Cuneta with The Voice kids Joshua Oliveros, Lyca Gairanod, Elha Nympha, Antonnethe Tismo.

9. Just Love Ngayong Christmas (2017) 

Love was spread to everyone in the Christmas Station ID 2017 Just Love Ngayong Christmas. Real-life clips taken by netizens that show compassion for others were included in the music video. It showed that love can be spread even in modern times where social media plays an important role. Celebrities also went to communities to bring their love further in time for Christmas. It sported the hashtag #JustLove.

A strong list of performers joined in singing the cheerful hymn: Sarah Geronimo, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Piolo Pascual, Toni Gonzaga, Ogie Alcasid, Erik Santos, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Billy Crawford, Yeng Constantino, Darren Espanto, and more.

10. Family Is Love (2018)

A year ago, the essence of the Filipino family was the spotlight of the Christmas Station ID Family Is Love. Even though there are trials and victories, Filipinos will always go back to family and people we consider as family. One of its lines “Lagi akong uuwi sa’yo, sa puso mo kung saan laging Pasko …” hit straight to the heart. The music video featured five families of different structures to celebrate love.

Almost 400 artists performed the song to celebrate love for family, including the top singers in the entertainment industry with the University of Santo Tomas singers the AFP Chorale, Ramon Magsaysay High School Choir, Manila and Koro Bangkal Magbikin.
