Maldives is a top pick among honeymooners, and we can’t blame them. The crystal-clear and turquoise waters of the archipelagic nation found in the middle of the Indian Ocean are indeed so inviting. Needless to say, Maldives is the perfect for a beach getaway that has captivated Joj and Jai.
Be advised, though, that storms likely come in the last quarter of the year. According to the travel website, poortraveler.net, favorable weather conditions usually happen from December to April. That means, you have plenty of time to plan your trip.
NEW YORK, NEW YORK FOR YAM
Halik star Yam Concepcion recently told StarStudio.ph that she’s planning to go to the Big Apple this summer: “Parang mag-nu-New York ako in May,” said the actress, who’ll turn 30 on May 27. “I might spend my birthday in Montauk.”

The American city of New York isn’t tagged as the “City that Never Sleeps” for nothing, as there are many things that you can do here day and night! Aside from the free bus tours and the famous Broadway shows that usually happen in the evenings, sightseeing is also a great idea when the sun comes down.
According to the travel website, freetoursbyfoot.com, you can take a walk over at the famous Brooklyn Bridge, where the skyline views are truly spectacular. The Empire State Building is also open until 2 a.m., and the Top of the Rock, until midnight.
EXPLORING MACHU PICCHU WITH JULIA
Kapamilya star Julia Barretto lived everybody’s travel dreams when she recently toured around the South American countries of Mexico, Cuba, and Peru. In Peru, she visited the heritage site of Incan Ruins in Machu Picchu, where the oldest and first civilization in the world was believed to have been established.

Like Julia, you can visit this mesmerizing destination known as the “Lost City of the Incas.” For starters, did you know that we don’t need a visa to go there? Yes, you read it right! SkyScanner, a travel fare aggregator and travel metasearch engine, says you can stay in Peru up to 183 days with just a valid Philippine passport.
To get there is already an adventure, though. From Manila, fly to the Peruvian capital city of Lima by passing through a few Asian countries like Hong Kong and Japan. From Lima, you’ll need to travel to the city of Cusco via bus, and then, you have two options to reaching the peak of Machu Picchu. You either trek for 3-4 days (which outdoor enthusiasts would opt for) or take a train in Ollantaytambo or Poroy Station.
"TODO NA TOUR" WITH RUFA MAE
Comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto told us in a recent interview that she’s planning to visit a number of Southeast Asian countries before heading to the U.S. “I’m going to Hong Kong, then I plan to go to Bali [in Indonesia] and Phuket [in Thailand], then United States,” she exclaimed. “Todo na tour!”

Any trip wouldn’t be complete without tasting the best delicacies and the specialties of each destination. In Hong Kong, it’s difficult to decide which ones to try first because the country offers a wide array of flavorful dishes, such as Bo Lo Bao (or the pineapple bun), a variety of dim sum, beef brisket, and the original Hong Kong milk tea.
In Bali, there’s the famous dessert called Pisang Goreng (or fried bananas garnished with honey and coconut flakes). In Phuket, there’s Tom Yum Goong (or the spicy prawn soup). In the United States, there’s the traditional apple pie.

HEALING IN NATURE WITH JADINE
On-and-off-screen couple James Reid and Nadine Lustre also took to Instagram recently to share with their followers where they went to celebrate their 3rd anniversary. It’s at a health and wellness resort called The Farm at San Benito in Lipa City, Batangas. The young stars known together as JaDine had a great time in a place that’s just a few hours away from hustle and bustle of Metro Manila.

Like JaDine, many urban dwellers hie off to Batangas for a quick relaxation and/or a beach trip. As suggested by poortraveler.net, you can choose from around 15 beaches in this Southern Luzon province, including Laiya, Verde Island, Manuel Uy Beach, Masasa Beach, Sombrero Island, Sepoc Beach, Fortune Island, Calayo Beach, Pulo Island, Bituin Cove, and Matabungkay Beach.
KALADKAREN LOVES THE COLD
Kapamilya TV host Jervi “Kaladkaren” Li recently told StarStudio.ph that she’s going back to her British boyfriend’s home country: “Planning to go back to the cold UK. Just for the week before Holy Week.” Last Christmas and New Year, she virtually took her online followers to the English city of London through the photos she posted on Instagram.

Many tourists flock to London during spring, particularly in May, and onwards to summer. Like Kaladkaren, you can fill your IG feed this summer with shots taken from the most “Instagrammable” places in London, according to the fashion magazine, Vogue. There’s the Somerset House in Central London and inside it, the Pennethorne's Bar.
Also: the café and boutique bakery of Peggy Porschen, Petersham Nurseries in London’s Covent Garden neighborhood, and the classy exteriors of Biscuiteers in Notting Hill, to name a few.
Actress Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo likewise gives us, through her IG, some inspiration on where to travel this summer. Recently, she and her husband, actor and TV host Ryan Agoncillo, along with some friends, visited Cancun city in Mexico. They had picture-perfect posts to get us all green with envy.

The famous city of Cancun is a top destination to tourists aside from the country’s capital, Mexico City. So it can get so jam-packed, especially during peak season. If you’re a traveler who’d want to explore areas in Mexico away from the crowd, the online media website Thrillist suggests two towns to explore instead: Bacalar, which is the home to the second largest lake in Mexico, and Mahahual, for its laidback, bohemian vibe.
CHILLING IN CORON WITH BEA
Beach babe alert! Bea Alonzo recently wowed the Instagram world with photos of her in a bikini while traveling to the seaside town of Coron in Palawan with her family. Her bikini photos are as jaw-dropping as the place itself. Indeed, there’s nothing like our very own beaches.

When speaking of must-visit beaches in the Philippines, Coron comes top of mind. According to the scuba diving website, divezone.net, the best time to schedule your beach-bumming like what Bea had done in Coron is during the dry season of October to mid-June. You can get to the island either by plane or by ferry. Tours include the mesmerizing waters of Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, Cyc Beach, and Siete Pecados.
For diving enthusiasts, Coron is a haven. There are underwater sites to explore, such as the Skeleton Wreck, and the Lusong Gunboat and Shipwreck.
SAY KONICHIWA WITH MAYMAY
Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7 Big Winner MayMay Entrata will turn 22 on May 6, and she told us recently that aside from working on some exciting projects this summer, she plans to celebrate her birthday with her Mom, who’s in Japan. It won’t be her first time in the Land of the Rising Sun, as she already spent the holidays there with her love-team partner, Edward Barber.

If it’s your first time to visit Japan, a blog post from the media website, forbes.com, shares these tips: get a Japan Rail (JR) Pass if you’re planning to see some sights outside Tokyo; bring cash instead of credit or debit cards; know a few phrases in the Japanese language; and indulge in cheap but delicious treats from their convenience stores.
We couldn’t help but get awe-struck by the dreamy and snowy photos that fashion model/endorser/entrepreneur Georgina Wilson-Burnand took while on a recent holiday with her family in the ski town of Niseko in Japan. As seen in her IG Stories, Georgina and her husband Arthur Burnand’s firstborn, Archie, happily played in the snow. Kawaii!

April and May are known to be the hottest summer months in a lot of countries in Asia. But not in Niseko, a chilly town situated in Japan’s second largest island, Hokkaido. It remains snowy in that part of the world, with rays of sunshine, as captured in photos in many blogs.
The period between December and March is the peak season, while the month of April rarely attracts tourists. If you’re on a tight budget, you may consider traveling in April because hotels and tour organizers usually drop their rates around this time, with freebies to boot!
To get to Niseko, you can book a flight from Manila to Sapporo city, which has the closest airport going to Niseko. From Sapporo, it is advisable to take a bus for a land trip that takes about 2 to 3 hours.
