I’m often asked when my obsession for pets began. The truth is, I’ve loved them for as long as I can remember! When I was young, I used to pick cats up on the street and "adopt" them. I collected so many. But when Billy and I started living together, I had to give them up— he was badly allergic to their fur. Since then, we've opted to raise sphynx cats. They're hairless, which is better for Billy! He occasionally gets the sniffles whenever they're around, but it's not as bad as having regular ones.
Right now, we have four cats (two boys and two girls) that are unique in their own way. Anya, my blue-eyed Sphynx cat, is very regal. She has the most masungit face and is such an introvert; she won’t come near you if the other cats are there cause she wants the humans all to herself. Mimi (a.k.a. Meters or Dimitri), our spotted Sphynx, is a huge fatso, but I always say he’s the angel of the family because he’s the only one who never loses his temper or snaps at anyone. Somie, our yellow/copper-eyed Sphynx, got his name from what we've dubbed the “Son of Meters”; he’s the son of Anya and Mimi. Storm is our only black Sphynx—and she’s a stunner!

For anyone thinking of getting sphynx cats, it's worth it! I'll admit, they can be pricey. We shipped some of ours all the way from Ukraine. We groom them (by that, I mean getting their nails cut) once a week. And on top of that, we spent money to get them spayed and neutered. The good news, though, is they're very low-maintenance. Wiping them with wet cloth every day is enough to keep them clean. And if your partner is as allergic to fur as mine, they're a perfect alternative!
I can't talk about my pets, though, without giving a shoutout to our three dogs! Buddy is our Keeshond, and true to his name, he’s the friendliest dogs you’ll ever meet! Bruno is a really tall Belgian Malinois who never fails to scare anyone that comes near our house. Ironically, though, he’s the biggest Mama’s boy…well, maybe not as much as Summer (The Momo), who is the biggest brat in life. But I can’t even begin to describe how amazing she is. She’s my spirit animal!
