Redesigning your home need not be an expensive task. You can actually use materials you already have lying around, and since most, if not all, walls have white as their base color, they're easy to jazz up. Interior designer and DIY blogger Michelle Rimosa-Sy shares a few ideas on how you can dress up that "blank (wall) space" of yours:
1. String wall art. A ball of colored yarn, washi tape, thumbtacks, and a wood frame is all you need to come up with this simple art piece to give life to your room. There are different ways of arranging your strings of yarn within the wood frame, and if you want to step things up, use different color combinations.
2. Washi tape art. If you have several washi tapes at home, you can mix and match them, and place your patterned creations on your walls. The extent of your washi tape art is all up to you, and if you want to change your artwork, you need not worry as washi tapes do not leave residue when removed from walls.
3. Bamboo sticks. Make your home feel like it's part of nature by incorporating leftover bamboo as your wall art. Assemble them into simple frames, and hang them up. Add hooks to them and they're not transformed into racks to hold some of your belongings.
4. Alphabet pin board. Do you happen to still have those alphabet mats at home you as a kid (or your kids) used for playtime? Repurpose them by turning them into word art that you can hang on your wall. They can also function as pinboards for posting notes and additional decorations.
