We’re often overwhelmed by all the to-do’s that come to mind. But for celeb athlete Gerald Anderson, as long as he’s into what he does, he’ll always find ways to keep at it.
Juggling multiple things isn’t easy. In acting, it takes passion. In sports, it needs motivation. And to stay fit, it seeks determination. For Gerald, all these qualities are innate. But more than showing us all what he loves to do, he hopes his way of living inspires people to follow suit. “I take on the chance and responsibility para ipakita sa tao na kahit gano kahirap, kaya mong gawin,” he told the press at launch of Skechers Performance Run 2018.

1. Maintain your diet. It’s one thing to enjoy food. It’s another to overindulge. “Isa ako sa mga Pilipinong mahilig kumain. Pwede pa rin nating kainin yung mga favorite foods natin, basta wag lang yung sobra. It counts down to your motivation kung bakit mo ‘to ginagawa,” explains Gerald. In short, try not to overeat.
2. Manage your time properly. A hectic schedule doesn’t stop the My Perfect You star from taking time out to exercise. “Syempre tao din ako. May times na medyo nakakatamad lalo na sa panahong ganito (tag-ulan),” confesses Gerald. “Kunyare nasa taping ako and tatlong oras na hindi ako kasama sa eksena, uuwi muna akong bahay or pupunta ako sa nearest gym tapos tatakbo ako. 'Pag day off ko naman sa work, nagpa-practice ako ng basketball with the Marikina (Shoemasters).”
3. Know your purpose. In everything that we do, it helps to spend time thinking about what we want to achieve. The earlier we do, the lesser the risks we face later on. “We need to have our purpose,” says Gerald. “Sana hindi umabot sa ‘yung motivation lang natin is that we have health problems.”
