With the decision by the National Telecommunication Commission to revoke ABS-CBN's franchise last May 5, the company had no choice but to comply—going off the airwaves and ending all its broadcasts on television and radio later that evening. History has shown us, however, that this isn't a permanent development.
Through the efforts of everyone in society getting together and making their voices heard, hopefully, this can be reversed en route to press freedom in the country fully realized.

Many Kapamilya stars kept this in mind, deciding to lend their voices and call out authorities to reconsider ABS-CBN's franchise renewal. In individual speeches given via Facebook Live protest called "Laban, Kapamilya!", ABS-CBN's prized celebs Coco Martin, Kim Chiu, Agot Isidro, and Cherry Pie Picache among others and production employees including directors Antoinette Jadaone and Dan Villegas expressed themselves over the unfortunate situation rather no holds barred. Boy Abunda and Bianca Gonzalez, meanwhile, moderated the "online rally."
