Last Saturday night, Filipinos glued to their screens and in attendance at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan alike found themselves dumbfounded over what seemed to be a surprising spectacle that would follow the political issues surrounding the 30th SEA Games. It was the opening ceremony that caused the ecstacy and goosebumps, a Floy Quintos-directed one so much so it turned out to be both culturally inclusive and representative of our entertainment prowess.

Next to the deliberate order of productions that only painted our diverse roots in dance ("Ugat Ng Ating Lakas," "Dangal") and exhibited our history and culture in song ("Sigla" plus Ryan Cayabyab's "We Win As One"), the opening ceremony displayed no shortage of our fave artists and national team athletes in eye-catching modern Filipiniana. The outfits—either traditional or deconstructed, tailored by the likes of Francis Libiran and Maxie Cinco—definitely showed intricacy at best!
