Last summer, The Killer Bride actor Miko Raval found himself busy but not because of showbiz. At least, not yet. Part-timing as a commercial model and auditioning and then playing bit roles here and there, the hunk then dipped his nose onto his laptop, there at the office-warehouse of his clothing manufacturer brand Steeze in Las Piñas. Miko did the 9-5 as the president and basically the all-around guy for his baby business, one he started with his girlfriend in 2014. He was that kind of "busy" until he got the call.
"Nakuha ko yung role two weeks before we aired, as in tinawagan lang ako," Miko, of course, is referring to Fabio Serrano, a member of a punishing thug group who would save and then groom Camilla (Maja Salvador) from a barrio lass to a ruthless antiheroine. Easily, Miko's Fabio is integral to the plot, a primetime gem that piloted at 23.1% in the ratings game. "Surprise talaga wala akong idea na makukuha yung ganitong kalaking role na to!"

Miko's role has been known to be madly in love with Camilla, something the latter just called a business partnership as she herself pined for an ex lover. Fabio's love was the kind of unrequited, dismissed one that made viewers root for him over time. Rumor has it the likes of Mark Anthony Fernandez and Jhong Hilario auditioned for Fabio, but here it is being portrayed as believably by a "newbie."
Hence, Miko suddenly becoming a different kind of "busy" as the show progressed—now the tinseltown's new, hot property who would trend on Twitter every now and then. It's been safe to say that three months after The Killer Bride piloted, Miko and/or his role Fabio shooting up the Trending Topics pedestal is not new—to anyone except, yes, Miko. "It's overwhelming! Sobrang tuwa ako, eto na!" he laughs. "Mama, I made it! Eto na yung hinihintay nating lahat!"
Albeit new to the primetime radar, Miko has long been—well, let's call it—a public figure. He started as an athlete, the kid who would play ball with his buddies as a kid. "Naglagay Dad ko ng court sa tapat ng bahay namin. May mga friends ako na adik sa basketball din. It started from there," he narrates. "Eventually, nakapasok akong high school varsity (at Claret School of Quezon City). Nakapasok ako sa UP Men's Basketball Team B nung college. That's it! That's the end of my basketball career!" he continues with a laugh.

Miko pursued Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management at UP Diliman, all while—blame his boy-next-door, jock image—doing ramp and commercial modeling. After graduation, he started Steeze and still went on with modeling and acting. While one could say that the rest is history with a flourishing acting career, he humbly says it's one he has yet to write.
"Nung nag-start ako ng showbiz lahat naman tayo gustong kumita—easy money or something. But then, along the way na-in love nako sa craft. Kasi, every job you take on in acting you have to give it your all," he says. "Tignan natin kung anong next chapter natin pero ngayon—enjoy muna natin yung ride!"
