In the world of fashion, the name Patricia Santos is force to be reckoned with. Since entering the industry six years ago, the young designer has built a loyal list of celebrity clientele and set up a dreamy atelier in BGC—all while battling thyroid cancer. The journey was by no means easy, especially not for an independent designer. But it was certainly worth it.
Patricia, who recently celebrated her birthday, is kicking off her 30th year with yet another career high: designing for the ABS-CBN Ball 2019. Celebrity and fashion fans alike will be seeing her custom creation worn by one of the hottest actresses in the country. “For this year’s ball, I am so honored to be dressing the one and only Liza Soberano,” she reveals. It’s been my dream to design for her! I’m so glad that I am able to work with her for this spectacular event.”

The brains behind of PSOfficiel is best known for designing feminine, elegant, and luxurious dresses. With Modern Filipiniana as the event’s official theme, as it will showcase Patrica’s unique take on a Filipiniana gown. “Even if we want to add a contemporary touch to Filipinianas, we still must stick to the Filipino aesthetic. It is important to take into account our tradition, and culture,” she insists.

While the actual look of Liza’s dress has yet to be revealed on September 14, she did give us an idea of the process behind it. “My designs are actually inspired by the woman behind it, and how we want them to feel during their special day. I want clients to radiate confidence, elegance and their overall beauty. Aside from that, I also add a touch of my own personal aesthetic to complement theirs,” she explains. Patricia also explained that the gown is made with Swarovski Crystal, Silk Tulle, and Custom Embroidery.
Patricia doesn’t just support education. As successful as she is, the high carbon emissions, wastewater production, landfill waste her industry generates is something she takes very seriously. “I personally support the sustainable fashion movement,” Patricia reveals. “We recently launched The Label, which is PS Officiel’s new RTW Fall/Winter casual line that uses sustainable fabric for the dresses. Fun fact: we do not use plastic for our packaging!”
