I’ve been doing charity work for elders over the last two years. It was prompted by my desire to give back to them because I was raised by my grandparents. When I visited nursing homes like Home for the aged In Cebu, I had a first hand experience observing and talking to the elders and I learned that they are not given much attention. They feel left behind; parang nakakalimutan sila. They are not given due care and opportunity.
Choosing this advocacy is easier said than done. Some people questioned my decision but I stood for it because this is something I care about. I decided to push for it because of my close relationship with my grandparents. They were fun and my source of comfort. They made me believe that genuine love exists and I feel so blessed that I was able to witness them go through every challenge together.

However, choosing this cause does not mean that I will not work on other causes which the BPCI and Miss Universe Philippines are supporting. Whatever that is, it’s about dedication and concern to help improve the lives of different sectors of our society.
