Easily, even if it's not necessarily a fashion event, the State of the Nation Address (SONA) is known for delivering some of the most posh red carpet style statements of the year. It's indeed one of the country's most-awaited occassions, and on Monday politicians and their partners appropriately rose to the occasion as President Rodrigo Duterte addressed his fourth SONA.

While many sported a classic Filipiniana gown, we saw a surge of modern styles that we, too, would love to wear. When it came to trends, the basic white/off-white was seen in many dresses. Tootsy Angara, wife of Sen. Sonny Angara, wore an embellished silky white terno with seed pearl tambourine medallions and signature mini butterfly sleeves by Rajo Laurel, while Congresswoman Lena Alonte wore a floor-length mermaid cut dress by Michael Leyva.
Solid, bold and jewel-toned colors also ruled this year's red carpet, where ladies like Aubrey Tan-Zubiri and Congresswoman Loren Legarda rocked every color imaginable in fuschia, red, royal blue.
Others went to play around with fabric by incorporating traditional Filipino fabrics and materials into their ensembles. Vice President Leni Robredo and her daughters wore modern ternos in woven fabrics from Angat Buhay communities in Marawi and Basilan. Meanwhile, Sen. Pia Cayetano wore a modern barong top and pants, and cinched her waist with a belt made of Yakan fabric from Mindanao.
Truly, there was no shortage of style at this year's SONA. Keep scrolling above to see all our favorite looks!
