I honestly love my color and I find that my tan gives me a healthy, golden glow that is difficult to mimic with makeup. My complexion is naturally fair but since I live on the beach, I’ve acquired a darker skin tone from all the moments I’ve spent having fun under the sun. I embrace getting a bit darker because it’s the lifestyle I want to lead. The joy that I get from spending so much time outdoors is definitely worth it.

Beyond the color of your skin, beauty is looking at yourself in the mirror and feeling radiant with the knowledge that you are more than enough. In order to help cultivate this feeling, it is important to take care of ourselves inside and out. As part of my self-care routine, as cliched as it sounds, I drink lots of water and eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and make sure that I am getting ample sleep at night.

Growing up I’ve always had a hormone problem because my testosterone levels are a bit too high for a female. This causes my skin to occasionally break out. Knowing I have this tendency, I’m very particular about my skincare routine. I pay attention to what my skin needs at any given moment. Some days, you wake up and your skin is dry. Some days, you wake up and your skin is oily. I’ve realized that we have to listen to our bodies and adjust to what it needs.

Because I’m almost always outdoors, I slather on some sunscreen to protect my skin from harmful UV rays. I also enjoy makeup as much as any other girl. Before going to bed, I wipe off any cosmetics that I have on my face, rinse everything with a facial wash, and apply the necessary serums and creams. I prefer products like Mestiza that is filled with natural ingredients.
