Long before Mena Massoud, Zayn Malik, and Darren Espanto ever lent their singing voices for the 2019 live-action remake of Aladdin, Brad Kane was the original Prince Ali taking our very own Lea Salonga on a magic carpet ride at the 65th Academy Awards in 1993, melting our hearts with the now-iconic “A Whole New World.” We all know Lea—the original Princess Jasmine—went on to have a long career on Broadway, film, and even as a judge on The Voice Philippines, but whatever happened to her Aladdin?

It turns out Brad kept really busy after his stint in Agrabah, too. Following the success of Aladdin, the “One Jump Ahead” singer took the Broadway route, playing Arpad Laszlo in the 1993 revival of She Loves Me. He also did a few TV appearances for Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1999. But eventually he decided to try his hand as a TV producer instead, and he’s been at it ever since. Brad is credited to have co-produced episodes on Crash (2008), Fringe (2008), Black Sails (2016), Lodge 49 (2018), and his Bruce Lee-inspired show Warrior (2019), which has just wrapped up its second season.
Outside of the entertainment business, Brad Kane is a happily married man with two beautiful children. He may have chosen life out of the spotlight, but he'll be forever remembered. Go through our gallery to see a glimpse of his career!
