Victories are always sweeter when shared, and for Grab, what better way to celebrate their seventh year anniversary than a party for their drivers and guests, and lots of surprises for their loyal Grab users!
Ever since its introduction to the Philippines in 2013 as a start-up taxi booking app, Grab has evolved to become a reliable transportation and delivery service, proving to be an everyday booking app answering to all our needs—milk tea cravings, included. And now that Grab marks seven years in Southeast Asia, and six years in the Philippines, it is only fitting to commemorate the milestone with a big celebration.

Many reasons to celebrate
The last couple of years has marked a number of achievements for the ride-hailing app. It has been revealed that one out of six Filipinos has installed the Grab app—making the platform fit for everyday needs. Plus, since its introduction years ago as GrabTaxi, Grab has traveled over 300 billion kilometers over the Philippines, and has expanded the transport services to GrabCar, GrabCar Premium, GrabShare, and GrabTricycle. Grab also grew their services as an online food delivery platform, with merchants ranging from startups to fast foods and high-end restaurants. But the best news we heard (and we’re so guilty of)? Grab Country Advisor Chris Taylor revealed that GrabFood has sold over 1.8 million cups of milk tea in the Philippines alone since their soft-launch last year!

A party to remember
These success stories are just some of the reasons to celebrate, that’s why last June 6, Grab hosted an party at XYLO at the Palace, BGC exclusive for selected Grab drivers, influencers, and guests. Cerah Hernandez-Co hosted the event, while Curtismith performed for the crowd, who then enjoyed what else but free-flowing drinks and food?
Joy of giving
Beyond the grand party, the highlight of Grab's anniversary night was about giving back. Right there and then, GrabPapugay honored around 30 driver-partners who has the most number of 5-star ratings. They also raffled off prizes such as pocket WiFis, smartwatches, TVs, cellphones, and laptops to lucky attendees.
But it’s not only the attendees who got surprises. As part of their corporate social responsibility initiatives, Grab shared that they have partnered with HOPE and Teach for the Philippines for the “Grab Gives Back” campaign. A total of PHP 3 million worth of GrabRewards points was donated by consumers, which then went to HOPE to build two classrooms. The other half of the funds was to support six teach fellows for the coming school year.

Meanwhile, to provide more opportunities for their driver-partners, Grab Academy will continue to offer its training program teaching driver-partners road safety, first air, defensive driving, and livelihood training.
Lastly, through the GrabRewards loyalty and rewards program, Grab continues to share the love to its users allowing them to exchange their transaction points for incentives like food, services, airline points, Grab discounts, and more. As Grab Philippines President Brian Cu said, "The milestones and impact that we saw over the last few years reflect the trust that consumers have in Grab. We owe this to our consumers and partners, who have continuously supported us through the highs and lows over the past few years."
