In Focus: Bianca Gonzalez-Intal On Acing The Working Parent Life

It’s no secret—juggling two things at once is a challenge. As for working parents, having to leave your kids at home for work can be one of the toughest things anyone has to deal with daily. TV host, vlogger, and mom of Lucia and Carmen and wife of baller JC Intal Bianca Gonzalez-Intal is all too familiar of this adversity. "It’s always a struggle. Some people they bring their kids to work kasi they want their kids to be close to them. Me, I can’t. ‘Cos when I’m at work, I want my mind to be 100% at work. And kunwari they’re backstage, 50% of my head is gonna be like, ‘kumain na ba siya? Natutulog na ba siya?’” she revealed to ABS-CBN Lifestyle.

It's difficult, but it has to be done, she stressed. “Syempre you have to be there, you don’t want to miss the milestones, you want to make sure na hindi sila madadapa or whatever, right? But also, you know that they’re exactly the reason why you have to work. So mahirap talaga sya."

Her time-independent line of work has given Bianca more control of her schedule, especially when it comes to being next to her daughters. "(JC Intal and I) are very lucky that one of us is almost always at home with the kids. And when I’m home, if I have work to do, I finish all of that on the laptop while my daughter’s playing there. But after, talagang full attention. I do the work: put her to sleep, bring her to do potty, wash her butt, everything. So, kung baga, the times that I’m with her, I really make sure it’s quality and totoo talaga.”

But how exactly does she make it work? Make the most out of your time with the kids, she said. “Whatever little time you have with your kids, just make sure na tutok ka. They know eh. The kid knows if half your head is somewhere else, and half sakanila, and they know if full attention mo sa kanila."

And lastly, put. down. your. phone. “Something I always try to remind myself and my husband is that, if we’re on our phones too much—kunwari Lucia’s calling, 'Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!' I’m like, ‘Your daughter’s calling you,’—we have to also snap out from being so zoned into the phone kasi kids notice that talaga.”
