Charging into his 40s, without his stubble, actor Christopher Roxas still looks like he how did when we first knew him on Mara Clara. Okay, fine, that was an exaggeration. But see it's not just the genes—it's also on how he has kept his bod real tight these past few years. Christopher remains active in showbiz, while keeping busy in his businesses with fellow TV staple and wife Gladys Reyes and adventuring aboard his beloved bike!
How do you define being “classic?"
You never go out of style. You are timeless. You bring out nostalgia.
When people look at you, what do you think they see or think?
Ako, I’m just me. I don’t pretend to be anybody else. Friendly naman ako so pala-kaibigan. I'm happy-go-lucky and grateful sa lahat ng bagay.
What are three interesting facts about you that is not common knowledge?
I also sing pero kapag nasa mood lang ako.
What is something you like to do the old-fashioned way?
I live my life the old-fashioned way. Kahit sa love, kapag na-in love ang bata ngayon, iba, eh. Nakikita natin sa social media na kapag na-i-inlove sila, minsan kapag hindi nabigyan ang gusto, nagpapakamatay or something like that. Ang courting, ngayon, if I wanna get your number, I’m just gonna pass my phone then you put your number if you want to. If not, okey lang. Pero dati, I have to talk to you and say hi, and ask talaga for your number. Iba yung courting nun, eh! Dati, mas nabibigyan ng attention yung romance talaga. Ngayon, hindi na.
Sa style, I also don’t need a lot of things. I don’t buy a lot of clothes.

What’s the most surprising self-realization you have had?
That I can really talk, that I can really speak to people. Kaya ko palang mag-share sa mga kaibigan ko about my life experiences. And na-ta-touch ko rin sila. Kasi dati, nasa likod ako nila. (Ngayon), kaya ko palang tumayo at magsalita.
When did you realize that?
When you grow old, you get to think a lot of things. Kasi, mayroong time sa buhay mo na everything was going so smooth na parang, “Oh, now is my time!” Then, biglang “Bang!” Nawala lahat. It messed me up a lot—big time. That was around 2012—I was doing shows na ganyan tapos biglng nawala lahat. I was questioning (myself), “Bakit ako nandito?”
Sometimes, you need to figure things out by yourself. I’m happy but I’m not that happy kasi nga mayroon akong hinahanap, so pinagdaanan ko yung mga ganitong stages. Naalala ko yung mga ganoong stages—I drank a lot! 'Tapos puro kaibigan. So yun, I went to Baler. First time ko dun. Yung mga bata dun, they wake up 5 or 6 in the morning. Kasama ko sila, then we will catch like three perfect rides. Then, papasok na sila sa school nila. After school, they’ll go back home. Then, okey na ulit. Ang simple, di ba? Life doesn’t always have to be complicated. We just complicate things.
But sometimes you have to kasi you’re "selling" yourself. Yun yung mga dating nasa isip ko na, “I have to buy this” o “Kailangan may ganito ako!” Materyal lahat. We’re not rich, but we have more than enough. And ang pinaka-achievement ko din, maging maayos na tatay and asawa.
What’s the best thing about getting older?
You’ll learn a lot. Sabi nga ni Bob Ross, “There’s no such thing as mistakes. Only happy accidents.” When you make mistakes, you learn. But dapat yung mistake na yun, tanggapin mo. Keep in mind na you gotta learn from it, so hindi mo na gagawin ulit. As you grow older, you see things differently.
What’s the worst thing about getting older?
Wala! It’s up to you if you wanna feel old! It’s up to you if you wanna be a couch potato at 50. Sabi nila, age is just a number, oo naman! Ako tinitignan ko yan as lumang kotse, kapag hindi mo na-maintain yung luma mong kotse, hindi mo naalagaan, it cracks. It fails. Like cars, may components yung makina. Kapag na-maintain mo yan, yung value tumataas. Kapag binenta mo na sya, it runs well.

How different was your life 10 years ago?
Siguro, 10 years ago, I was thinking like a child still.
What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?
Nakikita kong maganda ang 10 years namin from now. Ten years more, we’re gonna do more with God’s help and God’s grace. Sabi ko nga, we don’t need a lot. I believe that what we have with my family is special. It’s something we’re grateful and lucky for because not all families are like ours.
