The Golden Globes is one of the most anticipated events in Hollywood not just for the film and television industry but also fashion. It’s among the few awards ceremonies where designers, all at once, get to dress A-listers in stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces and have them on full display from the iconic red carpet. To celebrate the recently concluded 76th Golden Globe Awards, we pay homage to the names behind its most glamorous gowns as well as why we think the styles below both flattered and trended!
1. Deep V-Necks. A classic V-Neck suits every body type. But a plunging cut is ideal if you want to appear taller and slimmer because it extends the neckline. The exposed skin in the chest area gives an added confidence boost! Our faves that night? Kirsten Bell’s by Zuhair Murad, Alison Brie’s by Vera Wang, and Saoirse Ronan’s by Gucci.
2. Tulle. Besides Alison and Saoirse, many celebs opted for tulle and wore them a la colorful, Cinderella-esque ball gowns. The sheer, lightweight fabric is popular among designers. They also photograph well. Emmy Rossum wowed us in her carnation pink Monique Lhuillier dress. Constance Wu’s did justice to nude in Vera Wang. And who can forget that ravishing red Khyeli Couture gown of Lili Reinhart?
3. Long sleeves. It’s not unusual to see Golden Globes attendees show off their arms. Stars like Jamie Lee Curtis, Halle Berry, and Emma Stone, however, made covering them up look absolutely fab! Emma stunned per usual in Louis Vuitton. Jamie Lee Curtis reigned supreme in Alexander Mcqueen. Halle Berry, last but certainly not least, left us shookt in Zuhair Murad.
