Balancing work and family life is tough. I am sure other working moms can attest to that. Thankfully, with my job as a host, it’s not a 9 to 5 so definitely, it’s a schedule I can manage. When I was working before I gave birth, every job that I would have, I would schedule in the afternoon so that in the morning, I can still bring my daughter to school or to the park. Sakto kasi my husband naman works in the morning and is home in the afternoon, so sya naman yung nasa bahay. That’s why I think people who have a 9 to 5 have it tougher in balancing family time and work. In our line of work kasi, kahit papaano, more flexible. But siguro the cliché thing is if you want to do everything, you really have to make time for it. ‘Yun lang, wala kang tulog. Unlike when you’re single, you have all the time to do whatever you want; when you are a parent, you should ask yourself, “Do I spend these 30 minutes scrolling through social media or taking a nap?” Which is why you have to be more intentional in the choices you make with how you spend your time.

In 2017, I started creating my own content on YouTube. This is where I get to apply everything I studied in Communication in college, as well as applying what I’ve learned as a host and interviewer. I’m not the type to share our travels, our house, or our daily routine unlike what the other vlogs are. I wanted to do something that would be of added value to the viewers that’s why it became an advice vlog, which is a spin-off of a book I wrote in 2014. It is a personal advocacy in a way, reaching out to people to hopefully help them with what they are going through. In our culture, minsan nahihiya tayo to share our problems to friends or even family, for fear of being judged.
I want my vlog to hopefully be one source of help for everyone—to realize that they are not alone with what they are going through, and that whatever it is, they can get through it too. It’s very gratifying kasi it was a passion project lang kasi it takes so much time and at the same time, hindi naman ako bayad for it so it’s really something I love doing. When I get comments from people na it has helped them or some write me novels and share their lives, to have that kind of response makes me feel, “Uy, may nagawa akong tama.”
