Next to the entry of transwoman Angelo Ponce of Spain to the world-famous pageant, which is a remarkable first in history, this year's Miss Universe edition marks another notch on the stone of records with the announcement of an all-female panel of judges. After all, who else but a woman can both sympathize and emphathize with another woman, right? This, Paula M. Shugart, President of the pro-women empowerment body of the Miss Universe Organization, stressed on by announcing the names of the selected judges in a recent press release.
“Each committee member is an inspiring woman who reflects our commitment to improving opportunities for our titleholders personally and professionally year-round, and are role models to these young women whoare our leaders of tomorrow,” she said.

But the news doesn't stop there, with two Filipinas as part of the panel overseeing both the preliminary and final rounds, and eventually picking the new Miss Universe. Bridal and fashion designer and celebrity favorite Monique Lhuiller and aviation firm CEO Richelle Singson-Michael join other successful women from all over the world in judging the prestigious pageant, which will air tomorrow 8 AM local time and to be hosted by the returning Steve Harvey.
The rest of the judges include: Miss Universe 1988 and Angel Wings Foundation (NGO) founder Bui Simon; Miss Universe 1992 Michelle McLean; Women’s March, Inc. founder Janaye Ingram, beauty queen, published scientist, and award-winning entrepreneur Iman Oubou; and another award-winning entrepreneur and TV business commentator Lili Gil Valletta.
