With the highly coveted crown come countless moments of glitz and glam, gowns designed by renowned people in the industry, invites to the hottest events, grand Parade of Beauties, chances to travel and see the world, opportunities to support your chosen causes, remarkable journey to fame, and more. One that’s often overlooked, however, are its downsides—if you think there is, even. Here, at the Dairy Queen PH's #CheesecakeBlizzard event held recently, this year's Bb. Pilipinas winners themselves reveal the most challenging part of being a beauty queen.

Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray: "It’s really having that mental fortitude because we are being judged constantly online and our line of work is one that’s put out for a lot of judgment. We are in a competition, so it’s just having that mental fortitude and being able to block out unnecessary negativity. We just have to stay positive and be proud of what we’re doing for the country."
Bb. Pilipinas Grand International 2018 Eva Patalinjug: "Our challenge is letting other people know that we’re just the same. We’re like equals. We’re doing this because this is our passion and there is a purpose behind it. At the end of the day, without our makeup, we’re still the same people who go out with friends, kumakain ng kwek-kwek and isaw. Same lang naman."
Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2018 Karen Gallman: "Being in front of the media, I’m not used to it. So, that for me is very challenging. I’m slowly getting comfortable with it, though. May criticisms din so it’s important that you surround yourself with people who know you best. It’s important not to let bad comments define who you are. You can’t ever please everybody so deadma nalang. I got to learn that."
Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2018 Michele Gumabao: "Probably your life being on social media all the time. I got used to it in volleyball but as a beauty queen, I think more people look at you and more people look at you for how you look. In volleyball, people know you but they only look at you inside the court. Your personal life is your personal life but being a beauty queen, you always have to be presentable. You always have to present what a beauty queen stands for. You always have to be ready for whatever so 'yun yung pinakachallenging para sa akin. Hindi ako pwedeng pumunta ng mall na basa ang buhok."
Bb. Pilipinas International 2018 Ahtisa Manalo: "For me naman, it’s the early mornings and the late nights because when we’re in Binibini, always may early call times and late kami natatapos. Also now that we’re queens, kapag may events, ganun din. I’m not used to it."
