Lately, I’ve always been on the go with work and travel. While all these photo shoots and events are a lot of fun, I do love it when I get my time off—because I can just relax and be my usual low maintenance self. In short, tamad. Ha ha! Maintaining an effective skincare routine, eating a balanced diet, and general happiness are essential not only for your skin, but for your whole well-being as well. There’s still a lot for me to learn about beauty, but I’ve found a routine that works for me. Here’s a quick run through guide to my current self-care routine.

First and foremost, I have to remove every bit of makeup and dust and grime off my face, otherwise I’ll quickly break out! Coconut oil is my favorite for breaking down hard to budge makeup like waterproof mascara, plus its natural. To remove the coconut oilI, like to use Simple Micellar Wipes. Then I’ll go in and cleanse, my all time favorite facial cleanser is the Lush Angels On Bare Skin Facial Wash. It has a solid, paste-like texture. I especially love that it has ground almonds which softly exfoliate my skin.
I love facial oils like Rosehip but Jojoba is by far my favorite. I use it in place of a moisturizer. When I feel like pampering myself, I love using a combination of facemasks and “muti-masking.” Since I have what they call 'combination' skin, I’ use different facemasks for my oily areas, my dry areas, and on my blemishes. I also make it a point to go to Aivee Clinic and get facials once every two weeks.

When it comes to my everyday makeup, I’m very minimal. I love a good lash curler and non-clumpy waterproof mascara. Usually, I’ll use bronzer on the parts of my face where the sun would normally hit as well as using it as an all over wash eye shadow on my lids.
Then, of course, kilay! 'Cause #kilayislife, I polish my microbladed brows (thanks Strokes!) with a brow pencil. I then fill in the front of my brow with a felt tip brow product to create the illusion of more hair. I am one of those who cannot go without a brow gel—I feel like it just makes the brows look more natural!
For my cheeks, I love a cheek tint and then finish off everything with a good moisturizing lipstick! Makeup is really a process of learning what works for you. But for me, I always feel beautiful with less makeup.
I know a lot of people don’t want to accept this, but skincare really starts from within. Water is one thing that really reflects in my skin. When I neglect my water consumption, my skin has a tendency to be dry and I’m more likely to break out. Also I have a tendency to touch my face and rest my head on my hands throughout the day, which transfers dirt to my skin. So, I just try to be mindful. Again, it's all a learning process—just be patient with yourself and find what works for you!
