Love Actually: Alex Gonzaga On How She Found Hunky Boyfie Mikee Morada Thanks To Papa P!

Being in a romantic relationship is not always a piece of cake, especially when there are so many eyes on you. This may be the reason why most celebrities who found love outside the entertainment scene prefer to keep their relationship on the down-low. But things went quite differently for actress-host-vlogger Alex Gonzaga, who realized she was truly in love when she “did not care” about the pressures that may come from revealing the real score between her and businessman Mikee Morada to the public. We sat down with Alex herself at Klook's first Travel Fair to talk about such beautiful romance that lives on despite the fame and hectic schedules, giving us ultimate #relationshipgoals!

How did you meet Mikee?

Alex: Through Piolo Pascual. Piolo told me na may ipapakilala siya sa akin. During that time, I was entertaining another suitor so when it didn’t push through, sabi ko lang kay Piolo, “Oh, ano, akala ko may papakilala ka sa akin?” Nakita ko kasi yung picture, cutie eh. I didn’t know that time din na we have so many common friends even outside showbiz, hindi lang si Piolo.

What are your biggest similarities?

A: Sa lahat ng mga ni-date ko, most of them don’t have the same core values (as) me. Yung beliefs namin are not really the same, so dun kami nagcclash. With Mikee naman, pareho kami. Kumbaga, yung family nya and family ko, we practically grew up (together) kasi pareho ng beliefs, paniniwala, core values. So yun yung pinaka-okay.

How about biggest differences?

A: Our biggest difference siguro ay how we handle things. Yun lang. So hindi sya totally big of a difference na talagang grabe. Kung paano lang namin i-handle yung mga everyday life situations, iba lang.

What’s one thing about your relationship that people don’t know about?

A: We’re really compatible. Akala ng tao na sya yung tahimik, ako yung maingay pero actually kapag kaming dalawa lang, mas vice versa. Sya yung mas nagpapatawa kaysa sa akin.

How do you make your relationship work?

A: Actually, it’s not ‘making it work,’ eh. It will just work by itself. Of course, there will be efforts and there will also be compromise, pero it should never feel like it’s ‘work’ or it’s ‘too hard to make it work.’ Everything just falls into place. Ma-ri-realize mo nalang na parang,Uy, matagal na pala tayong nagde-date. Okay pala tayo. Matagal na pala tayo.’ And hindi kayo nagkakaroon ng major problem. Yun yung sinasabi ko din even in my book na kapag the relationship is too stressful, na parang everybody is against it or parang OA yung pag ‘make it work,’ baka naman hindi talaga kasi kayo meant para sa isa’t-isa.

How do you stay connected to each other?

A: Even if there’s social media, even if it’s easier for us to text, we always make it a point that we see each other every day. Even if it’s long distance naman, we always make sure we call each other. We talk talaga kasi it’s important na naririnig niyo ang boses ng isa’t-isa and you really talk para may conversation.

Any plans for the future?

A: You know, he’s doing his own thing. He has his business. Ako I’m enjoying myself and my career. So actually, we don’t have plans yet of levelling up the relationship but we have talks about it. We already have talked about it. Pero wala pang concrete plan.
