October is out and with it, sooner than you think, so is 2017. Something though has lingered strongly we feel, in the realm of fashion. The resort wear chic rhythm of S/S 2017's looks and trends have whispered those four wanderlust words, "Wish you were here..." to us up to this day. Tassel earrings are left a-swishing, shoulders are still a-popping, and mid-riff resort wear debut gowns are a new thing. Some of our fave designers have far from packed up their florals, foliage, and brights come these past two 'ber months. In fact, they're still working with them. Take for example the recent style collection #LAHI, an embellished jacket collaboration by Mia Arcenas, Solenn Heussaff, and Vavi (a.k.a. Vanessa, Solenn's sis) reminiscent of those swag Factory For Hire jackets but with an ultra fresh tropical and nature-centric plot twist.
Why are fashionistas still extremely hooked on summer and spring's freshness in the last quarter? Sure, the western fall collections have rolled in, but bold colors, florals, ruffles, flowing fabrics, ethnic textitles and vibrant tropical patterns still abound. The heartbeat of the tropics, the new millenial travel obsession for surf and dive spots (for posing if not for surfing), and the global assertion of diversity probably all add something into the mix.
Even in the realm of designer chic jewelry for instance, artisan design brand Vera Moments by Euro-based Davaoeña, Valerie Remoquillo (ethereal twin of captivating skincare wordsmith Vanessa Remoquillo) is a curation in retail to fawn over. Stately pieces of artisan accessories by a list of designer creators sell out almost as soon as some are posted. Imagine tassel earrings of exquisite taste and quality in colors that mimick a tropical horizon as well as other accessories like rings, necklaces, bracelets, and bags. Seen here is Valerie's twin, Essa, requisitely wearing one of her favorites. Among Essa's online followers we might, proof in the pudding of her glowing taste so to speak, is Pam Quiñones. Vera Moments' pieces often spark lively conversations about their aesthetic quality.
It's apparent that a handful of Asian designers is burgeoning with creativity and with less and less pretense and more courage the past few years. "Geotagging" takes on a whole new meaning if you think about it with regards to clothing. International markets are now embracing the creativity of far flung ethnicities. With an online audience so aware now of what's out there and a wide reference of geographical context being right at our fingertips we're no longer afraid to admit the truth.
For now, turn your back away from what those western September issues have told you about layering coats. The island girl look is here to stay—just check out our resort wear inspired gallery above!
