Look: 19 Miss Universe candidates—Miss Angola Luisa Baptista, Miss Belgium Stephanie Goldof, Miss Belize Rebecca Rath, Miss Brazil Raissa Santana, Miss Bulgaria Violina Ancheva, Miss Cayman Islands Monyque Brooks, Miss Costa Rica Carolina Duran, Miss Germany Johanna Acs, Miss Guatemala Virginia Argueta, Miss Iceland Hildur Maria, Miss Mexico Kristal Silva, Miss Netherlands Zoey Ivory, Miss Nicaragua Marina Jacoby, Miss Panama Keity Drenan, Miss Paraguay Andrea Melgarejo, Miss Philippines Maxine Medina, Miss Russia Yuliana Korolkova, Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane, and Miss Uruguay Magdalena Cohendent—designed their own sneakers to showcase their different mission statements. These messages include women empowerment, world peace, love of country, and confidence in one's self.
Here’s a peek at the near-hour long design session with Converse Philippines, where white and black pairs of high cut Chuck Taylor sneakers served as the canvas of the Miss U beauties' art:
All 19 pairs are up for auction for the benefit of Positive Action Foundation, a Miss Universe Organization-supported foundation focused in helping individuals living with HIV/AIDS and their families, particularly those displaced from their employment due to HIV phenomenon.

Feb. 10-12: Robinsons Bulacan and Marquee Pampanga
Feb. 17-19: Robinsons Isabela and Robinsons Ilocos Norte
Feb. 24-26: Robinsons Tacloban and Robinsons Cebu
March 3-5: Gaisano Mall of Davao City and Gaisano Mall of Digos
March 10-12: Gaisano Mall of Tagum and Gaisano Mall of Toril
March 17-19: Gaisano Mall of General Santos.
