Daily Diaries: Have You Seen ‘Jeepito’?

Daily Diaries: Have You Seen ‘Jeepito’?

If Paris has the Eiffel Tower, and Dubai has the Burj Khalifa, the Philippines would probably have the jeepney as one of its most iconic symbols. In a Facebook post shared by user Mark Ty, he had the luck to chance upon Jeepito, the world’s smallest rideable Philippine jeepney there is to this day.

While public jeepneys compete to have the longest seating aisle, Jeepito remains content having only a four-seating capacity. Petite and suave, Jeepito also exudes a certain air of cheerfulness, a character Filipinos are well-known for.

Tonton Tan, the brain behind Jeepito believes that his creation is “small but amazing” and plans to introduce Jeepito around the country to help boost tourism. Made from scrap materials, the said mini-jeepney only measures 55 inches in height, 92 inches in length, and 42 inches in width—perfect for passing through the alleys and even safer than motorcycles.

So has anyone seen Jeepito lately? Do you think the government should invest in more of this? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box!
