Last January 9, the original members of Rivermaya got together once again (sans Bamboo, who was in the US at the time) treated everyone at 19 East to a nostalgic jamming session. The said performance, initiated by Perf de Castro, was welcomed positively by old fans who watched their earlier gigs. New fans, on the other hand, were treated to a performance that closely resembled Rivermaya’s early days [related: ICYMI: Is it Time for a Rivermaya Reunion Gig? One of its Original Members think so].
It's not a secret that the original members of Rivermaya (Perf, Bamboo, Rico Blanco, Nathan Azarcon, and Mark Escueta) are open to having a reunion concert. As we await this exciting possibility, let's relive their wonderful music through these videos of their performances from their early days:
1. “Himala” Music Video
2. “Kung Ayaw mo Huwag Mo” Music Video
3. “Elesi” from their Bicol Gig in 1998
4. “Panahon na Naman” from their Bicol Gig in 1998
5. “If” from their US tour in 1998 (the last with Bamboo as lead vocalist)
6. “Ulan” and “Princess of Disguise” from their US tour in 1998
While it may be a long shot, maybe the original members of Rivermaya might decide to record new material, just like what the Eraserheads did two years ago. After all, de Castro does think that it is time for them to reunite as a band.
