Cheat Sheet: Perfect the Workwear Version of the Modern Mod Look

Bring the 21st century mod girl from the runways to your wardrobe by incorporating some 1960s-inspired elements into your everyday office ensembles:

Monday. For your Monday meetings, exude the perfect mix of professional and stylish with a mod-inspired color block dress worn under a light colored blazer. Black tights and a bag that matches your dress will add the right amount of retro touch to the look. Accessorize with pearls and black pumps for a classic look that will stand out in the boardroom.

Tuesday. After the Monday hustle, look fresh with an all-white ensemble for Tuesday. The monochromatic look can still have a '60s vibe by pairing a dainty cardigan and a skirt with a boxy silhouette. Wear it over a crisp white dress shirt to keep it office-appropriate. Carry a statement clutch for a pop of print and color.

Wednesday. Your mid-week officewear should be a bit relaxed and toned down to condition a positive disposition towards work, all whist still looking professional. Instead of a stuffy blazer, go for a short-sleeved cardigan worn over a retro shift dress. Cinch in your waist with a skinny belt to avoid looking shapeless and drab. Your best accessory to complete the laidback chic look: A fab pair of flats like smoking slippers.

Thursday. Thursday calls for versatility especially when you need to go from work to an evening event. The trusty dress and blazer combo will do the trick. We suggest a white fitted blazer that you can take off or drape over your shoulders after work. A plain cocktail dress won’t do if you’re attending an event, so don something reminiscent of the swinging sixties. It’s not too flashy for the day yet still interesting enough to go out in. Black tights and a matching clutch will elevate the look. Now you can go mod from day to night.

Friday. Casual Fridays shouldn’t be an excuse for a frumpy and lazy get-up. Take advantage of this day by going for a stylish ready-for-the-weekend outfit, like a sleeveless button down and your go-to black trousers combo. You can also opt to be creative with your accessories; for example, wear a headscarf with gold hoop earring and bangles.
