Editors’ Picks: The Best Dressed Women at the 2015 Golden Globes

Hollywood awards season is upon us once more, and as much as we await who will bag home the much coveted trophies, we also look forward to who will dazzle on the red carpet. At this year’s Golden Globes, dark, intense films topped the race, but on the fashion forefront, it was a whole different story: Happy and glam jewel tones and metallics ruled—reds, yellows, greens, sparkle, and shimmer definitely booted out black from the spotlight.

This was one of those batches where it was hard to pick only one best dressed, so we asked local fashion authorities to weigh in on the looks that trumped them all:

For Metro Creative Director, Metro Society Style Editor, and celebrity stylist Rex Atienza, it's not just about the dress—overall styling and impact matter. "Jennifer Lopez's dress color of choice was unexpected of her; I love the styling from the hair, makeup, down to her accessoriesher neckpiece gave texture to her dress. This is another red carpet knockout for J. Lo."

Metro Fashion Editor Eldzs Mejia has a penchant for the unexpected. "Kate Hudson’s Michael Kors ensemble was spectacular! She's 36 and can still rock a bandeau top better than any young Hollywood star. The nude fabric that was studded with so much Swarovski crystals made it seem like she was walking with all skin. Amazing! There's also something about the Valentino Couture gown Kirsten Dunst wore that made me want to know more about her again. While it showed off her cleavage, it was super sophisticated and simple, and you just couldn’t stop looking at her."

The sparkly homage to feminine roots caught Chalk Fashion Editor Kate Paras’ eye.Kate Bosworth in pink Dolce & Gabbana sequins gives me life!”

Working Mom Editor-in-Chief Jane Kingsu-Cheng loved the trendy yet classic numbers.Jennifer Lawrence’s structured and polished gown is a refreshing sight among the soft fluid pieces. I love how Dior was able to incorporate the cropped trend in this red hot gown, and was able to show some skin, too! I also love Zendaya's Marchesa gown. The romantic combination of the maroon shade and tiered laser-cut lace style makes this a dreamy piece; plus, the low V-neckline adds a dramatic sexy vibe to this feminine number,” she notes.

For Metro Society Editor-in-Chief Raul Manzano, quiet sophistication ruled. “My Best Dressed for women would be Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton—[the white gown was] simple but elegant.”

He’s also got a pick among the men. “It would be Ryan Gosling in his white tuxedo jacket: Very classic and vintage, reminiscent of the 1940s and 1950s.”

Such elaborate gowns may just be achievable if you’ve got a sky’s-the-limit budget, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look as red carpet ready as your fave celebs in real life—these Golden Globes fashion trends are your tickets to taking your everyday look to the next level. Embrace jewel tones and metallic wholeheartedly—we assure you you won’t regret it.
