Ask any K-Drama fan to list their OG oppas, and Hyun Bin would surely be atop it. Most fans may know him way back from his Bodyguard and My Lovely Sam Soon days, but Hyun Bin recently became the talk of the town and ruled mainstream when Crash Landing On You (CLOY) debuted early this year on Netflix. His popularity became so hot that two of the country's biggest brands—a clothing brand and a telco company—got Hyun Bin as their ambassador!
But as Filipinos wait for the day this Korean superstar visits the country, Metro.Style was lucky to get an exclusive interview with Captain Ri Jyeong-hyeok—his first Philippine media exclusive!
We list down below the things we learned about Hyun Bin from the interview—which swung around his career, working with CLOY co-star Son Ye-jin, and, yes, even his pogi secrets!

On why Captain Ri was special to him...
To Hyun Bin, all his previous acting roles were special in their own way, but Captain Ri Jyeong-hyeok—a North Korean captain who meets and falls in love with South Korean Yoon Se-ri after she accidentally crash-landed on his territory—stood out more. The actor said that the character “had more warmth and innocence” compared to the other roles, which made it "a bit more special in terms of expressing the role."
On Son Ye-Jin as his inspiration...
Prior to CLOY, in 2018, Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin starred in the movie The Negotiation together. Since then, the actor has always wanted to do another project with Ye-jin, seeing the actress' "huge passion" for acting. From his observation, Ye-jin is great at interpreting lines and scenes, which further inspired Hyun Bin in the craft.
On his (really) simple beauty routine...
Like most Koreans, Hyun Bin has an enviable skin that make fans swoon. When asked about his skincare and hair care secrets, he humbly admitted doing not much. "I think I am not trying that hard. I do not really do something on the face, and I also do not do perm nor hair dye when I am in the period of inactivity. I just let my hair grow," he said in the interview.
