Cheat Sheet: Filipina Influencers Spill Quarantine Skincare Secrets!

Cheat Sheet: Filipina Influencers Spill Quarantine Skincare Secrets!

As we spend more time at home, some of us may have noticed a few changes in our complexion. True, we’re not constantly exposed to pollution and free radicals, and many of us are going makeup-free, but still, being quarantined has taken a major toll on our skin.

Next to the usual suspects (lack of sleep, eating unhealthy food, or zero exercise), it's the stress from coping with the COVID-19 scare that is giving our skin some problems. And the lack of ample Vitamin D and limited access to beauty products and services are not helping, too.

Rising up to the challenge, many women, including these influencers, have been using this time to give their skin a little extra TLC. From changing their beauty routines to drinking more water, these ladies know all too well about giving your skin the love that it needs!

Now is the perfect time to let your skin rest from all the makeup. I still make sure to wash my face with a gentle facial cleanser and use a micellar cleanser to get rid of all the extra dirt. Moisturizing is also very important.

What's your quarantine beauty secret?
What works for me is to not use a lot of products on my skin. All I do is cleanse and moisturize. The products I use shouldn’t have a strong scent because I have sensitive skin and that’s what usually makes me break out.

How's been skincare like at home?
I’ve been drinking a looooot of water (three liters a day on average, but sometimes more). Luckily, I barely ever get acne—but I noticed my skin was starting to get dry so I had to start using moisturizer!

What new beauty secrets have you discovered during this time?
Something new I’ve tried though is a barley cleanse. Ever since I started, I no longer need to use moisturizer and (I) feel healthier all around. It's meant for weightloss but I’ve seen more than just a difference in weight. Only a week in and (I) already lost half my quarantine weight gain (10 lbs), my skin is glowing, and my digestive system is working better!

I’ve definitely updated my skin care routine! I’ve been using more masks and creams than ever!

What's your quarantine beauty secret?
I’ve fallen in love with my gua sha! Since I have more time I religiously massage my face every night after moisturizing.

How's been skincare like at home?
Even though I’m just at home, I still do my morning and evening skincare to avoid breakouts. Having good skin helps get me in a good mood and I think that’s really important these days.

What are your quarantine beauty secrets?
My skin cleared up so much during the lockdown even though I have been sleeping so late—around 5 AM! I was able to point my finger on the makeup I was using that was causing my very sensitive skin to act up. I ordered mineral makeup online since they are kinder to the skin. I’ve been using them for when I need to shoot or do Instagram Live videos, and I’m so happy that they have not caused my skin to act up at all! My hair also got so much nicer, I guess it got a much needed rest from all the ironing. Now, I don’t iron my hair anymore and realized I never needed to, but I still get tempted to curl my locks once in a while! I just make sure to not do it so often and let my hair rest.

How's been skincare like at home?
My current skin is combination-dehydrated, so my routine should be gentle and still target my problem areas at the same time. In the morning, I use a gentle cleanser (Cosrx Low pH Goodmorning Cleanser) and then follow up w a light serum (Hyaluronic Hydra Power Serum) on my dry areas such as around my mouth and cheeks. At night, I use an antibacterial toner and then finish up with a benzoyl peroxide cream (both from my derma) on areas where I have spots. I like to keep my routine simple so its easy to maintain.

What are your quarantine beauty secrets?
I have been drinking more water now, and as cliché as it sounds, it does make a huge difference on my complexion! Not wearing makeup is also giving my skin a breather and making me love my real skin even more. I use a clay mask once or twice a week, depending on how my skin is feeling. My fave is the retexturizing rose clay mask from Origins.

How's been skincare like at home?
I've been taking care of my skin at home by continuing my current skin routine. I make sure to still wash my face, use toner, and moisturise every morning. Then I use the same routine with serum, and night cream in the evening. I use a facemask twice a week. I take days off of wearing make up, but I always make sure to remove my make up thoroughly when I do.

What are your quarantine beauty secrets?
My quarantine beauty secret is eating and sleeping properly—they are good habits for your body and skin! I discovered how much the food I eat can affect my skin, example is when I eat a lot of sugar my skin reacts badly. Using a multi-step skin routine can (also) help improve your skin.

How's been skincare like at home?
I've never been one to wear a lot of makeup. I like my skin bare because I like to let it breathe. I think the most important thing for all types of skin is hydration. I make sure to drink lots of water to help my digestive system flush out the toxins from my body. This is what naturally helps my skin achieve a healthy glow from the inside.

What are your quarantine beauty secrets?
I really devote time to skincare before going to bed every night. I am confident that I am treating my skin right because I use all natural, plant-based skin care products like Skinneed. I don't like using chemically heavy products for my skin and body. I also eat whole, organic, and nutritious food. I also get enough sleep and exercise. These aren't really secrets because they've already been proven to work wonders! But I do think that my turmeric jamu glow juice and golden milk latte recipes are modern day miracles. I shared how to make them on my YouTube channel
