ABS-CBN Lifestyle Asks: 3 TechHeads Dish Out On The Newest OPPO Reno3 Series

As many of us embark in a new phase of our lives after this lockdown, we can take this opportunity to see things from a new perspective as we refocus on getting to live more everyday, and making the most out of enjoying and treasuring every experience.

When it comes to going for the best that you deserve, OPPO’s latest smartphone series is interestingly becoming the talk of the “tech town”.

The latest series to join the OPPO Reno line, the Reno3 series, houses the best-in-class camera specs. Famed local tech content experts Mary Bautista, Jamie Inocian of, and Gizguide’s Peter Icogo have their own fair share of their thoughts on the Reno3 series and how it is measuring up to expectations!

Reno3 Pro is dubbed as “the world’s first commercially available smartphone to feature a 44MP dual hole-punch camera setup,” which allows it to capture more vibrant and vivid images. This is one of its much-anticipated features that promises superior capability.

“With these, you can take photos with an even more impressive ‘bokeh’ effect,” says Mary Bautista, making it  is perfect for taking selfies and vlogging. Its predecessor the Reno2 series which was released in Q4 of 2019 was also lauded for its impressive bokeh camera feature available on both photo and video format.

For selfies, OPPO remains the “Selfie Expert”. Reno3’s front camera is a selfie powerhouse with 44MP Ultra Clear Front Camera with Ultra Night Mode option, for that next level selfie experience. While its 48MP Quad Camera setup, with up to 108MP photography capability, it promises crisper images in every shot.

Similarly, the Reno3 Pro displays an extensive camera setup with its 64MP Zoom Quad Camera System using Sony IMX586 as its primary sensor. It’s a special feature that surely will impress mobile photography enthusiasts, especially those who are into taking scenic subjects. The Reno3 Pro is also equipped with an Ultra Clear 108MP Image feature.

For Peter Icogo of GizGuide, he appreciates the refined photography modes and additional intuitive features of the series which helps capture brilliant photos and videos in even less-than-ideal settings. “The front camera makes the phone a selfie machine! It comes with a massive 44MP f/2.45 selfie camera for high-resolution selfies. There's an Ultra Night Selfie Mode for low light selfies as well.”

He continues, “I appreciate the Ultra Dark Mode for super low light scenes, Ultra Clear 108MP image (interpolation), Ultra Steady Video 2.0 for shake-free videos, and Ultra Steady Video Pro for shake-free wide videos.”

Of course, OPPO delivers on its promise of greater performance. Within its sleek composition, the Reno3 is powered by MediaTek P90, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. The Reno3 Pro, on the other hand, takes it up a notch with the latest MediaTek P95 with 8GB of RAM with up to 256GB of internal storage, promising smoother and faster user experience.

The Reno3 is built with 4,025 mAh battery and with 20W VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 technology, while the Reno3 Pro offers 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0. “Expect that the Reno3 Pro will charge much faster than the Reno3,” says Bautista.

Delighting gamers and mobile users alike, the OPPO’s interface also boasts Hyperboost 2.0 technology for overall screen performance and uses ColorOS7, the latest iteration of the customized Android 10-based operating system. Due to the smartphones’ improved design, function, security, and scene application, among other features, users are provided with a more relaxed and pleasant using experience.

“The Reno3 also has an in-display finger scanner, and it has the same speed and accuracy as the Reno3 Pro. For me, it’s one of the fastest that we’ve tried so far on any phone,” adds Jamie Inocian of

Addtionally, OPPO is one of the few brands that has harnessed the power of Dolby Atmos surround sound technology, delivering incomparable sound quality for mobiles. “The speaker sounds pretty good on both phones and supports hi-res audio,” shares Inocian.

Helping build on connectivity capabilities, both phones support 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/ A-GPS, and offer a USB Type-C port.

These techheads have truthfully shared their thoughts about the latest of OPPO’s mid-premium smartphone offerings through the Reno3 series, especially to those who aspire to live more everyday with the best performing smartphone with a budget that won’t hurt their pocket. You can expect non-stop creation of content with friends and family for your own social media posting pleasure and unlimited opportunities to capture moments that best tell stories of your new beginning.

“All in all, the OPPO Reno3 is looking to be a promising camera-centric handset,” says Icogo of Gizguide. “Along with the Reno3 Pro, it could be one of the selfie camera phones to beat thanks to its 44MP front camera.”

Bautista also shares her verdict: “For me, they’re two great mid-range devices. They’re worth your consideration especially if you’ve been an OPPO user ever since.”

For Inocian, he emphasizes the practicality and the efficacy of the OPPO smartphones, and shares some tips on how to choose a phone that won’t leave you feeling guilty. “I hope you guys are buying smartphones and gadgets that are based on needs and not wants. To help yourself out (before deciding on a smartphone), set a budget range for yourself and then make a list of non-negotiable (features that your smartphone should have). If you’re into gaming, your processor should be the best in that price category. Don’t forget to research, check out the reviews, and get the most information you can before choosing one to buy. Practicality is what you need all the time.”

For the different types of mobile users – whether you’re into entertainment, a vlogger, photography enthusiast, or multi-tasking student or professional – the OPPO Reno3 and Reno3 Pro deliver solid performance and hi-tech specs at a budget that is within reach.
