While Filipinos are encouraged to stay home amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, there are essentials we need (and are allowed) to leave the house for—like groceries. With several restaurants and cafes now closed, more people are cooking their meals with the food they pick up from supermarkets or grocery stores. Even so, as Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire advised, infected droplets of the coronavirus can still be transmitted from what you buy.
Thus, it’s important to wash your hands right after your grocery run.

Others like Mariel Padilla take it a step further by sanitizing the items bought. The It’s Showtime host even made it into a vlog, following the trend of how-to videos online.
As Mariel demonstrated in her vlog, to sanitize your groceries, you need paper towels, tape, multi-purpose cleaner, Lysol, and storage containers where applicable. She stressed, of course, to always wash your hands and clean the surface before handling groceries.
