As of Monday, April 6, the Department of Health has recorded around 3,700 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country, with 177 deaths and 84 recoveries.
As we continue to pray for patients who have contracted the disease, let’s not forget about those who are on the battle front line such as medical health workers, grocery and convenience store clerks, delivery men, basic services and utility crew members, police and military officers, news reporters, among others. Consider them our modern-day heroes—men and women who risk their own lives to help flatten the curve and make the world still livable.

Directed by Joel Limchoc, the Department of Tourism puts the spotlight on these brave souls as an expression of gratitude for their service especially in these difficult times. The video features singer-songwriter Bea Lorenzo—whose dad and grandpa are both medical doctors—crooning to the Eraserheads classic "With A Smile.” The tribute compiles clips showing our nation's dear frontliners who, despite faces covered in masks, seem to be getting by through what's possibly the loneliest of times "with a smile." With the song's simple but affecting lyrics and Lorenzo's soft voice cradling through for around two minutes, the output is both hair-raising and heartwarming.

"Smile is a reminder of what remains good in the Filipino,” the DOT said. “As the familiar tune reaches its uplifting climax, the video reminds every Filipino that nothing can take our smile away.”
