It’s hard enough to find time to go to the gym on a regular day, but now that everyone’s on home quarantine mode, the motivation to get moving seems to be even more challenging. But lockdown or not, actor and fitness inspo Alex Diaz says there really shouldn’t be any excuse to keep yourself from getting that daily workout in—even if your regular gym is indefinitely unaccessible.
At his condo, in order to do his fitness routine, Alex uses some home items like water jugs and chairs as substitutes for gym equipment. “Before the quarantine, I work out almost everyday on average six times a week. But now that we’re on lockdown and I worked really hard to get to the size I’m at now," he tells ABS-CBN Lifestyle. "I’ve got no choice but to find heavy things to lift because I’m stuck at home! So, my fitness goal right now is to maintain the pre-quarantine gains i worked hard to get!”

The good news is that Alex says you don’t need to be fit or have rock hard abs like him in order to look and feel good inside out. He says you just need to get creative in order to be fit even when you are stuck inside your room all day. “When you’re at home, it's easy to get lazy and monotonous. But if you get creative, there's a lot of great workouts you can do with household items," he says.
Alex also specifies, "Water jugs are great because we definitely use then especially during these times and they’re easy to adjust to your fitness level. Doing jumping jacks and high knees are a great way to warm up because it's always harder to get into the mood when you’re starting from a cold body. Jump ropes are also something that everyone has that I’m sure normally just collects dust. High knee jump rope is a great way to remove stubborn belly fat, just 30 intense minutes a day and you’re set!" he explains.
Alex also recommends browsing through YouTube to find the right workout routine, but what’s most important is to keep active everyday in order to stay healthy and strong. As well as eating a good diet with lots of vegetables and water. “The virus doesn’t stand a chance against a strong immune system and a healthy body! So after a good workout, drink a bottle of water and get your metabolism flowing. And opt for a veggies day which is one day (or more) a week where you only eat veggies and broth. This is great for immunity and weight loss,” he shares.
