I think it goes without saying that the Philippines is as hot as an oven toaster—if it was on fire, into a volcano. Joke lang, OA! But seriously, ang init, bes! One step outside my house and mukhang bagong ligo ulit ako dahil sa pawis. Imagine all your hard work getting glammed up and ready for the day—thrown out the window! Effort ka nang effort, balewala lang pala. But don’t worry girl, I got you! I’ll share with you my top secrets that will keep you fresh and bangong-gigil all throughout the day!
1. Water-based moisturizer. If you ask me, oily and sticky moisturizers are major no-nos, especially during hot days. Go for a water-based moisturizers, formulated to be absorbed quickly as you apply it—making your skin look supple and healthy. What I also love about water-based products is that they’re light; not too heavy like creams!
2. Waterproof mascara. One of my biggest struggles with humidity is that no matter how many times I clamp my lash curler, my lashes still go limp in the middle of the day. Minsan ganun talaga, kahit anong gawin mo, nahuhulog ka pa rin. This is where waterproof mascaras come in! TBH, they have been part of my makeup routine for a couple of years now!
3. The right kind of shampoo. With the intense heat throughout the day, my hair feels so heavy and weighed down - Hassle! That’s why I was so excited when I found the right shampoo— Sunsilk Naturals! It has coconut water and is infused with vitamins and minerals, so my hair is #GaanNatural all day! #NaCOCOgigil talaga!
4. Matte lip cream. If you follow me on social media (BTW if you don’t, you totally should hehe), you will ALWAYS see me rocking the drunk blush trend. It’s been my signature look for almost two years now. So obviously, I’m always on the hunt for a new boyfriend—I mean a new blush. When I discovered matte lip creams, I was excited to try them on my lips as well as my cheeks. No surprise here: I love ‘em for both!
So now you know my secret to staying and looking fresh all day in this crazy weather! Don’t forget, and I cannot stress this enough: The key is to moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize!
