As expected, December 13th turned out to be a good, good day for Manila Uaenas who, after eleven years of waiting, finally saw IU in the flesh! The Korean superstar met her fans at her full house Love, Poem show in the Big Dome, and, in exchange, was welcomed with the warmest and loudest crowd she could've heard of. It's the Philippines, what's new?
To bear witness to IU performing her hits such as "Palette," "Through The Night," and "Friday" for the first time in the country was a lot to take in. But guess what, it wasn't all about just music because we got a little more than what we expected! Sure, the kween doesn't do things by half measures and neither do Ma-aenas who didn't hesitate to take advantage of the moment. Need we say it was totally worth the wait? We'll prove it in this list of highlights below!
From complimenting the audience's singing with "Ang galing niyo" to thanking us with "Salamat dahil gusto ninyo ako," IU really nailed her Tagalog skills! It just proved how much she came dedicated and prepared for her Pinoy fans.
Manila owned "BBIBBI"
We definitely took her 2018 track "BBIBBI" to a whole different level that even IU second-guessed if she really was the one who wrote the song of her Ma-aenas. "I've named Singapore as the country for 'BBIBBI,' but Manila I think is the mother of 'BBIBBI!'" Well, Pinoy stans ain't sorry.
"Say You Love Me" cover
You could've never imagined the joy we felt when IU sang MYMP's "Say You Love Me" again just before 2019 ends. Take note, she did it only in the Philippines as a special gift for us. And please, somebody grant our girl's request and tell MYMP that she's a real big fan!
Define "sulit?" It's when IU returned on stage after her encore to do just another super encore and granted our song requests of "Leon," "Raindrop," "Merry Christmas in Advance," and "Ending Scene". Do you think you can last a four-hour concert? Well, we just did, and so did IU's vocal prowess. Legends only.
Dream High throwback
The night was also a win for Kim Pil Sook stans as IU brought back the Dream High fever delivering an impromptu performance of "Someday" during the en-encore! Obviously, our hearts were filled with nostalgia. We might just have to binge-watch it one more time!
Yes, really. IU's Manila show just became a festival considering how the mixed crowd of fans went with their wildest! Even the star of the night can't help but admit defeat. "No one can beat Manila," she said. We couldn't agree more.
First impressions last, and, if there's anything, Ma-aenas did a solid one on IU. That reason alone is enough to make her regret not coming here sooner. No worries, kween. You can always visit anytime, and we'll wait. For now, thank you for making our dreams come true!
