The Six Fix: These Priceless SEA Games Moments Didn't Fail to Bring Us Pride

What a great time it is to beam with pride knowing that we are Filipinos! We owe it to our national athletes who continue to brave larger fields only to bring glory to our mother country. Let's not go far and just take what they've done at the recently held Southeast Asian Games into account.

Ever since the muti-sport competition began, our representatives haven't stop winning medals here and there. It doesn't matter what color of honor they were able to reap, be it gold, silver, or bronze. They took a tough road to be where they are now, they did their best, showed unfading dedication, and all these are enough to make us proud in all levels possible. What's more? They played with every Filipino's trademark weapon: their hearts.

Here, let's take a look at some of the touching Pinoy SEA Games moments that we'll forever brag about:

1. A hero made waves at the surfing competition.

Filipino surfer Roger Casogay won the hearts of many after giving up his chance to emerge as a winner in order to save Indonesian competitor Arip Nurhidayat, who broke his ankle leash and got swept by giant waves from drowing during their La Union race. This lifesaver is the real winner and you can't change our minds.

2. A cancer survivor won gold.

16-year-old ovarian cancer survivor Daniela dela Pisa totally proved her second life is worth living as she clinched gold medal during the Women's Rhythmic Gymnastics Hoop event and two bronze medals during its Ball and Clubs categories. It goes without saying, this girl deserves her chance to follow her dreams!

3. "Gold is for dad."

From being a summa cum laude of the University of the Philippines, Jamie Lim is now a Karate gold medalist. And no, she's not taking the victory all to herself but dedicating it to her sick father and PBA legend Samboy Lim. We couldn't imagine how proud he is of you, Jamie!

4. Team Philippines x Timor Leste

Triumph didn't come easy for competing country Timor Leste but support did. Prior to winning their first bronze medal in Taekwondo, Team Philippines trended #WeWinAsOne as an expression of their support for Timorese athletes. If there's anything more important than medals, it's this camarederie.

5. The unstoppable Carlos Yulo

With two gold and five silver medals, teen gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo really put on a scene-stealing show during his SEA Games stint. Suffice to say that negative talks behind weren't able to drag him down because nothing is more relevant than what he did for the country. You may not be able to make that "gold sweep," Carlos, but our Pinoy hearts are already satisfied.

6. Filipinas are ballin'!

This year's Philippine women's basketball game will go down in history books. Yup, we said what we said. The Gilas Women team shot gold medal-worthy points for the first time in the Philippines' SEA Games saga! What are you waiting for, give these Pinays the recognition they deserve!

7. The Magician's legacy lives on.

He could've stayed back, but, at 65, billiard icon Efren "Bata" Reyes chose to take his shot and represent the Philippines. In the end, he fell short in vying for gold and snagged the bronze instead in the carom event. Nevertheless, The Magician doesn't to prove anything, he's already a world champion, anyway. And we'll forever be proud of this legend!

Whatever sport they may have participated in, Filipino athletes have truly shown themselves worthy of respect given their talents, sportsmanship, goodwill, and everything that they are made of. Congratulations to everyone who brought us pride! Laban!
