Kapamilya actress Alex Gonzaga took to the country’s fastest-growing social media app KUMU on Friday, November 22 to encourage Pinoys from all over the world to make a difference and help raise funds for victims of the recent 6.6 earthquake that hit Mindanao early this month. 21 people were killed and a number of families were displaced by the catastrophic event.
Alex spent nearly an hour on the livestreaming app interacting with followers and telling her own experiences on the 7.2 Bohol earthquake that hit in 2013. Over 90,000 users tuned in on Alex’s dinnertime livestream donating virtual gifts in the form of over 2.4 million diamonds (the currency received by KUMU content creators from users) which amounted to a total of Php50,000 during the 45-minute livestream-a-thon with the actress.
In the spirit of the holiday season and to further extend a helping hand to the victims, KUMU matched the raised donations for a combined total of Php100,000 to be coursed through the Philippine Red Cross.
KUMU has over 1.5 million users all over the world, mostly comprising of Filipinos who foster a sense of community that initiates pop culture and significant discussions via the mobile app. The app also features interactive game shows daily for a chance to win prizes and opportunities for content creators to earn.
