The Six Fix: Halsey Lyrics that Hit Us Right in the Feels

By Maan de Vera

Halsey is one of the rare celebrities out there who refuse to talk about their personal life. Instead, she takes in all of her emotions, writes them down, and creates music for all of us to laugh, cry, and fall in love with.

This is probably why she comes up with lyrics that hit us all in the right spots. While there are just too many to choose from, we’ve rounded up our favorites for you. Here are the six song lyrics from Halsey that gave us all the feels.

1. "Control"

“I’m well acquainted with villains that live in my head.”

The toughest battles are waged in our minds, and our thoughts are not always on our side. While this line accepts the possibility that one may never truly defeat the ugly things inside our heads; this more importantly gives hope that there is peace when you embrace the fact that you won’t be happy all the time.

2. "Colors"

“You’re ripped at every edge, but you’re a masterpiece.”

Sometimes, a simple look into the mirror can remind us of all the things that we dislike about ourselves. It’s very easy to point them out one-by-one and feel like we are defined by these imperfections. This line is a reminder that yes, we are our flaws, but we are our good qualities, too! And the tug-of-war of good and bad sides is what truly makes us beautiful.

3. "Eyes Closed"

“Now if I keep my eyes closed, he looks just like you.”

We’ve all been there. We’ve all been in the presence of someone while dreaming of being with another. It’s incredibly hard to not miss a person who gave you so much to remember, and it’s even more difficult to not project them into the person we are currently with.

4. "Lie"

“All I am saying is that if you don’t love me no more, then lie.”

It has been said many times, but actions do speak louder than words. The denial that you will go through will be intense once you start feeling like the love from your S.O. is starting to fade through their actions. This line is a painful nudge to the fact that even though their actions prove that your relationship is just not the same anymore, we would rather hear them say that they still love us the same and believe in a lie that comforts us.

5. "Clementine"

“Because in my world, I’m constantly, constantly having a breakthrough or a breakdown.”

It’s weird how no one warned us that growing up means going through the phases of highest highs and lowest lows. One day you’re at the top of the world with everything you’ve always wanted. On the next day, you scour through the ruins of everything you’ve built. This line fully welcomes the idea that the stakes will only go higher as we go on and that this will come with either rewards or consequences. It's all part of that trivial thing we call life.

6. "Graveyard"

“Oh, it’s funny how the warning signs can feel like they’re butterflies.”

There are times when we fail to see red flags and mistake them for challenges. This line takes us back to the moment when it seemed exciting to overcome these hurdles. It also brings us to the point when we start seeing these signs for what they truly are and how we can’t do anything to change them no matter how much we try.

These lyrics are not only a proof of Halsey’s amazing songwriting skills. They are also a peek to how a star like her sees the world and processes her emotions, which surprisingly isn't at all different from us.
