The stars have aligned, and our favorite players’ prized item of clothing are now open for auction in order to save a kid’s life.
Last October 4, a Facebook group named “Volleyball Community Unites For Baby CV” has announced that they will sell jerseys to generate funds and cover the expenses of Jovelyn Gonzaga’s 3-year old nephew who has been diagnosed with Leukemia.
Lo and behold, the support from the volleyball community has been truly overwhelming. More than 50 players have already participated in this cause as of writing. Many UAAP, PVL, and even basketball players have already donated their collegiate, professional, and national team jerseys. It’s also expected that many more will join in the days to come.
It's also evident that the fans are willing to help out as much as they can. Although the bidding price starts at Php 1,500, Rachel Daquis' jersey is now up for as much as P20,000.
Sisi Rondina is also doing the best that she can by using her influence by promising to personally hand out the item to the winning bidder.
An announcement for the deadline of bids and other updates are yet to be made, but so far they have relaeased these reminders for anyone who are interested to bid:
They may be fierce rivals inside the court, but these athletes sure know how to stand united when it truly matters the most. As for us fans, we may come from different sides of the bleachers, but we can also play a part in saving Baby CV's life.
