In Focus: Why We're Still Proud Of Jessica Jung Years After Leaving Girls' Generaton

Happy about the end of September? The Sones around the world, not really. Permit us to refresh your memories in case you forgot: September 30 (of 2014, to be exact) is that dark day in history when Jessica's exit from her group of seven years, Girls' Generation, happened. And so the month ending feels like the first day of a Jessica-less SNSD all over again. We can still remember how hard we cried.

But five years later, we realized the turn of events wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Don't get us wrong, we miss our OT9. What we're just saying is that, rather than questioning where things went wrong, maybe try to commend all the success Jessica's carried through since her departure and emergence as a multi-faceted solo K-pop star. Here, let us give you a round-up of what she's been up to for the past years:

Fashion

Having a passion for fashion and being a style icon herself, Jessica launched her own line of classic wardrobe pieces and accessories, Blanc & Eclare. It has already expanded online with over 50 branches worldwide. She's also a front row fixture during fashion week and has sealed her status as one of Korea's best-dressed ladies.

Acting

Jessica landed numerous roles in movie and television including the third installment of action film Two Bellmen where she starred alongside Maze Runner actor Ki Hong Lee.

Musical comeback

Two years after SNSD, Jessica officially debuted as a solo artist with EP With Love, J which hit No. 4 on the Billboard World Albums chart. It was followed by a Christmas EP Wonderland and a third one in 2017 titled My Decade. Her latest release was a digital single entitled "Call Me Before You Sleep," a collaboration with rapper Giriboy.

Asian tour

The singer-entrepreneur took off for a fan meeting tour in Seoul, Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan, while unfortunately cancelling the rest of its stops (*cough* Manila *cough*) due to health concerns. In 2017, she embarked on a mini concert tour around Asia yet again. When are you visiting your PH fans tho, unnie?

Forbes' Most Influential

Jessica's body of work is so strong that she was listed under Forbes' 30 Under 30 in Asia back in 2017 which recognized her as a chart-topping singer, talented theater actress (for the Korean adaptation of Legally Blonde,) designer, and social media powerhouse.

Reality show

Our favorite part: Jessica found time to spend with her equally fabulous sister Krystal through their own reality show that features their everyday lifestyle as Jung siblings. It was reported early this year that the two have been filming for its second season in the US!

New agency

You know what else we're looking forward to? Her formal introduction in the west side especially after signing under United Talent Agency, the same label as DJ Khaled, Cheat Codes, and Mariah Carey!

People are entitled to their own emotions. You can feel sad that September's over or you can be proud of Jessica as well as the rest of the Girls' Generation members for being able to do what they want to do. It's your call. What matters is at the end of the day, we remain Sones forever and ever.
