Being a student and not getting enough sleep have been synonymous these past years. There is no denying that our academic responsibilities have become more demanding and that means less time for the rest of us to have a social life, pursue our hobbies, and to take some down time.
This is why it’s important to get acquainted with these sleeping hacks to get you through the day without dozing off at random places. Don’t worry as we’ve listed everything that you need to know.
1. Drink coffee before a nap.
This may seem weird but, did you know that it takes about 20 minutes before caffeine starts to really kick in? So if you want to make your power nap a little more effective, drink coffee before taking a 20-minute break and you’ll wake up more alert.
2. Turn off all electronic devices one hour before bed time.
As much as it’s nice to take some time for yourself and scroll through social media before you sleep, this can actually sabotage your sleeping schedule even more. Studies show that the blue light from our gadgets send messages to the brain to stay awake. It's much better to clear your mind by simply reading a book, having a pamper sesh, or even meditating before you catch those z's.
3. Do not study in bed.
Your body is actually pretty smart, and it will associate your bed as a place to work instead of a place to sleep in when you keep doing your homework there. The best way to go about this is to have a separate place to rest and study. In doing so, you will also decrease the likelihood of feeling sleepy when studying.
When you go to bed tonight, make sure to try one of these tips to get the most out of your slumber and wake up feeling rejuvinated to take on your day. You got this, sleep-deprived students! We believe in you!
