Education, may it be inside and outside of the classroom, face an extensive set of issues with distinct nuances in different parts of the Philippines. Especially with the advent of social media and Internet, the challenge to keep our country’s quality of education at par with other countries is urgent now more than ever.
With that, more than 350 education and information sector leaders and stakeholders will gather on August 31 (Sat) at the Session Hall of the Quezon City Legislative Building to discuss and talk about issues on education inside and outside the classroom, and hopefully find ways on how we keep the flow of quality information online and offline free from disinformation, free from social-political prejudice, and accessible to youth and other Filipinos from all walks of life.
Representatives from national and local government, as well as civil society organizations and tech start-ups will be present during the full-day event.
Two panel sessions will happen in the morning: one on State of the Philippine Education System and another on Education as Tool for Citizen Empowerment.
Four skills sessions will be facilitated in the afternoon: one on doing fact checks and consistency checks, another on social media for social good, one on open data for social awareness, and another on 21st century social enterprises.
Interested participants are requested to sign-up through this form: bit.ly/PYEIC2019.
The event is organized by International Youth United – Philippines and the Quezon City Sangguniang Kabataan Federation.
