In a cool, hip warehouse in Bangkok, Thailand, Japanese sportswear brand Onitsuka Tiger unveiled their all-new Autumn/Winter 2019 collection with shoes and apparel that make you want to cop the pieces right on the spot. Influencers from all over Southeast Asia wore head-to-toe looks from the collection, including iconic sneaker styles.

Leading the pack of the cool clique to party that night was Onitsuka Tiger Creative Director Andrea Pompilio. “I was doing a lot of raves in the past in a very specific area in Italy,” says the designer on his “Downtown Rave” inspiration for the collection and the party. “There [was] a lot of disco clubbing, DJs, music, and culture.”

A cool new silhouette, this pair is a top pick from the collection
The sneakers were made edgier with the addition of chunky soles, a definite ‘90s staple. In general, the pieces have a retro-futuristic vibe to them—imagine how free-thinking youth in Europe used to dress, but with a nod to futuristic sportswear. When asked about his personal picks from the collection, Andrea trimmed it down for us. “I love the padded jacket mixed with a shiny and matte feeling. There are a lot of sweat shorts with the new logo of Onitsuka Tiger, [and] a cool mini skirt which is very feminine,” he said. As for the accessories, “I love the oversized backpack,” he added.

And what’s a party if not for the guests? The exclusive night welcomed guests like top Thai actor and TV host Puttichai Kasetsin, better known as DJ Push, and former love team of Mario Maurer, Thai actress Baifern. Other celebrities and influencers from the region also glammed up the evening with a cool yet fun vibe. Each had their personal take on achieving their party-ready, Onitsuka Tiger look.

The live mannequins gave life to the mood and inspiration Onitsuka Tiger wanted us to see. Under trance music and neon lights, the fashion showcase was a definite success in highlighting not just the cool pieces from their latest season, but empowering the crowd with its intended youthful and independent spirit.
