When we hear about skincare, some of us often pass it off as something that’s just for women and the beauty products they use. Since, as compared to guys, women really are more conscious about taking care of their skin. However, it doesn’t mean that us guys don’t need to take care of our skin as well. skincare isn’t just all about looking good and fresh, but is also for our protection from skin damage and to maintain proper overall skin health. Simply put, skincare is for everybody. And since guys usually are more inattentive to it, it’s better late than never to get started!
Here are some recommended skincare products made for men, to help you get started with your skincare routine!

Exfoliate with facial wash
Skincare starts with cleansing your face to get rid of dirt, and to scrub away dead skin cells. Because of our regular exposure to dirt and the elements, it is almost impossible to keep our skin completely clean and healthy, which is why before applying any protection to our skin and face, it should first be cleaned. You may actually just use water for this, and just remember to just scrub thoroughly, but it would be better to use facial wash to be sure. Something worth trying out is the Biore Pore Penetrating Charcoal Bar, which is great for cleansing and exfoliating. It’s also infused with peppermint, which gives off a cooling effect. Plus, it can also be used for the body!
Tighten your skin with a toner
Looking young and fresh is a great bonus to having good skin health, and one of the ways to achieve this look, is by keeping your skin smooth and ‘tight’! For this, you’d need to use a toner. This product usually comes as a cream, and is what you have to put onto your face in order for your pores to close, resulting in a smoother and firmer look. A good toner to try is the Thayers Original Witch Hazel Toner. It’s a product that’s been around for a while now, and has picked up a lot of good reviews. It’s alcohol free, which won’t strip off the natural oils in your skin, and has witch hazel and aloe vera, both natural ingredients that are known to cleanse, soothe, soften and heal skin.
Moisturize with a moisturizer
One of the more common skin problems is getting dry skin, which is simply caused by our everyday activities, exposure to the elements, and our food and drink intake. Which is why applying moisturizer often goes along way, because not only would it give your skin a healthier look, it would help you feel comfortable too, with a softer and hydrated feel. Bleu de Chanel 2 in 1 Moisturizer For Face and Beard is a good moisturizer to check out. Though labeled as a face and beard moisturizer, this product works just as well for guys without facial hair. Its moisturizing effect lasts for up to eight hours, giving you soft and moisturized skin without the sticky feeling. It also has earthy and woody notes leaving you smelling great!
Protect your skin by using sun block
Applying sun block every now and then is always a good practice to protect your skin from the UV rays of the sun, especially of you’re often outdoors and under the heat. In fact it’s one of the most basic and recommended skincare practices by most dermatologists. Although any sun block that has at least a 50 SPF rating is good to use, a tried and tested product to consider is the Clinique For Men UV Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50. Its oil-free and lightweight SPF dries clear and feels light on the skin, and uses Clinique’s Invisible Screen technology that forms a protective layer on your skin, that is invisible to the eye.
Keep fresh with eye cream
Although not that big of a priority, but a good add-on, still, is using an eye cream, to get rid of fine lines and dark circles. If you’re up late often because of work, or are just a natural night owl, tendency is to develop dark circles and inflammation beneath the eyes, or as they’re more popularly known, eye bags. There are natural remedies to this, such as getting enough sleep, applying ice or tea bags underneath the eyes, but using eye creams are a good alternative too. Kiehl’s Eye Fuel is a good eye cream to try out. It has caffeine and vitamins, which help brighten the skin under the eyes, and minimizes puffiness.
