Chalk Exclusive: What It Takes To Dream Big According To Inigo Pascual

The world is now within Inigo Pascual's reach as he breaks through the international music scene with "Options," a track he worked with American producer HARV who, just so you know, has a record of hits with some very big names such as Gucci Mane, Eminem, and Justin Bieber.

But wait, hold your woahs, because there's more! The Filipino singer previously collaborated with Aussie sensation Wengie in a song, "Mr. Nice Guy", penned by some of Minzy, Girls' Generation, and BTS' co-writer, Melanie Fontana. Yes, you can now take your hats off to Inigo.

We'll never forget when we first heard "Dahil Sa'Yo," because we knew right at that instant Inigo would get his break. That 2016 feel-good bop literally dominated local charts and would go down OPM history as a classic hit. But this time, he's poised to push boundaries with the goal of sneaking his music into the global limelight and, again, we're sure he'd make it.

While it's all so exciting for Inigo, we know it hasn't been that easy to take the first steps into revamping his career. During the launch of his US single, we asked Inigo what took him to dream this big, and here's what we learned:

Treat everything as an opportunity.

Inigo wasted no time when he was told to do the US crossover. He moved past the fear of hearing what other people would think of his music and rather focused on believing that it was a blessing. He knew that he should value the opportunities coming his way not just for him but for the country as well. "Hindi nawala yung takot, yung kaba sa 'kin. Pero I think mas inisip ko 'yung blessing na nabigay sa 'kin kaysa isipin ko na baka hindi ko magawa." They say grab every opportunity because they don't always come along, right?

Find a good support system.

One's success can be attributed to having a strong support team and Inigo is confident to say that his family, friends, fans and management got his back through and through. "Nakakatuwa kasi they're the people who not just work for you but are also working with you." Truly, it feels different when you know you have who will walk with you as you tread the path to your dreams.

Turn your doubters into motivation.

"Salamat. Salamat dahil isa rin kayo sa mga dahilan kung bakit namin nagagawa yung mga nagagawa namin," says Inigo to those who doubt him So much for hating, this guy is making room to appreciate his doubters and draw motivation from them to work even harder. He can't convince them to like him, but he can sure shut their "he can't" down by showing that "he just did." There's no way we can please everybody, so we might as well make the best out of it.

Embrace the hard times.

If things don't go as you planned, so be it. Inigo urges us to trust in the process, that both good and bad times are the perfect recipe of success. We all have to go through every phase in life to grow, learn, reflect, and embrace ourselves and treasure whatever that goes with it. "Payagan niyo yung sarili niyo na masaktan pero matuto rin kayong mahalin yung sarili niyo through the process." After all, a lifetime without challenges sounds a lot like a bore.

Believe in yourself.

It might sound cliché, but it can't be helped because this is the number one rule. It's easy for you to claim that a lot of people got your back, but that's nothing if you can't even tell yourself that you can do it. That's the biggest thing that Inigo learned while gearing up to win the world. "Kung wala kang faith sa sarili mo, hindi mo pa rin magagawa kung ano yung gusto mong gawin." If you have so much time contemplating over criticisms, perhaps you should dedicated more into giving yourself a pep talk. You can do it!

It's safe to say that Inigo's hard work is paying off, and we couldn't have a more perfect timing to say that we're proud of him than now. Well, he's just getting started. The world should keep an eye on him because he's definitely making it big this 2019 and beyond. How's that for inspiration?
